Darn, that is one beautiful watch. Only a perfectly faded kissing 4 insert and an original gilt dial would top that. Very nice.

ps: not that there is anything with that perfect black kissing 4 that's on the watch right now, but it makes the watch looks too new, lacking the vintage feel imho.

thanks for the kind words!

It's funny you mention a faded kissing 40 because that's what I used to have on it, but it didn't speak to me at all.. I personally think I struck gold to find a nos kissing 40 jet black.

Faded insert below

Agreed - the black one is better! ^^ Plenty of "vintage feel" - it's dripping vintage (oldleatherneck)

Just a quick question to all the owners of these beautiful vintage watches with the lovely patina in the dial - I have my eye on a Sub ref. 5513, the seller has two different ones; one from 1968 and one from 1984, both with patinated dials.

This is not the most important thing but just out of curiosity, how does the tritium glow when it's that "aged"? Does an original, patina-dial of a 5513 from 1968 glow at all?

Again, the reason why I want one is not really how it 'glows', this is just a curiosity thing. I've never owned a real vintage Rolex, I'm more familiar with modern ones (right now a GMT ceramic with full black bezel) but more and more I'm starting to lean towards vintage pieces... there's something very cool about them...

Someone told me they thought this was "Manilla Envelope" color. That's "yellow," isn't it?
