fake old Tudor ?
Appears plated so I assume that meant fake, but figured I'd ask.
If it matters, number between the 12 lugs is 7966...the numbers are not straight. Between the 6 lugs...the numbers are 846792 with a bell shaped mark that has the letters KA and the number 20 next to it. Again, none of these are straight. I haven't tried to take the back off yet but I will if you pros need it. Thanks for your kind assistance. Phillip |

That serial number is way off for the appearance of the watch. Im guessing late 50's due to gold plating of the time, the style of the hands, the dial style and the case back. Hmmmm

Sorry about that. I'll retake the photo tonight with the numbers more clearly showing.

20 is for microns. A standard gold plating thickness. (The gold shell plating in a Rolex 1550 was advertised as 240 microns for comparison.)
I believe the KA is the hallmark for the company that did the plating, I believe this was outsourced. What bugs me is the dial, I have never seen numbers on the dial of this age and style. And it appears to not fit well. All the ones I have seen have had straight hour markers. Not saying it is impossible, but cause for skepticism. Possibly a later addition. |
