Royal Oak case back numbers
I just received yesterday Royal Oak (15400) with a black dial, purchased from an Audemars Piguet AD. On the case back there is only one number, the case number, starting with letter J. I thought that Royal Oaks have another number (watch number) engraved on the case back. The warranty certificate also has only case number and a movement number. Both numbers correspond to the numbers on the watch. Does anyone know if they sometimes don't put the second number (No xxxx) or if they stopped doing it with the latest "J" series.
Thank you. |

they stopped doing it this year at some point. Some J's have it and some don't. I have one of each from this year.

This is what I heard about the 2 numbers. Pls correct me if I am wrong
The alphabet-preficed number denotes the nth watch produced in that series and is irrelevant to the watch model. The one without an alphabet represents the nth piece produced of that particular model, across all serials. If this is true, then the move to removing the non serial maybe a move by AP to keep the sought after limited production (not limited edition) #s to themselves, such as the 202st. |
