Just curious. How much of a premium does it add to a watch that has its original paperwork and box? I know this is just a guess, but was just curios. Obviously it makes the watch more valuable when complete with the paperwork.

There is no formula, depends on the watch and the paper.

More for vintage; less for newer watches. in my experience, 10 to 15% for older watches. I have purchased B&P with virtually every Rolex I have ever purchased, because they are part of the “story “ that I love about each watch. They also add promenades, and for me some semblance of comfort of authenticity. Also, an owner who has retained box and papers in my experience take better care of their watches.

Older, i.e. vintage watches, are way more than 10%-15% today. As Tools mentioned, depends on the watch, year, condition and how complete the set is.

Good point — but our estimates are both accurate because we swim in Difft vintage pools! I’m buying 1980s DJs and I’m thinking you’re buying Mack daddy pieces from the 60s and 70s!

Very true. I would say 15% premium for a vintage Datejust set is close to the mark.
