Rolex and Animals

Pretty hard to get the shot with this dog. Thought it would be cool to see the animals and their Rolex wearing owners. Show us your pictures :)

Like it. Good job. Will get some proper ones at the weekend. Smearing dog food on my sub probably not a great idea...

He's a Vietnamese mutt. Mix of all sorts - there's a bit of chihuahua in the head, and Phu Quoc ridgeback in the shoulders.

My boy! He's a pure bred Bengal. All the best atributes of a cat and dog mixed into the softest creature this side of a mink. They have a pelt like a wild animal (they are half wild), and don't shed. He loves water and playing fetch, comes when you call him too. Best friend you could ask for.

He looks amazing, and no shedding must be handy too. Everything, clothes wise, I own has fur all over it! 😳

Thanks Ben!

He's a talker though. The sounds they make are pretty unique, more of a growl or chirp than a meow, much deeper. Of course he'll shed a tiny tiny bit once in a while but it won't get on your clothes if you hold him (he's heavy anyway and doesn't like to be held! ).

A bengal won't rub up against you for attention, they head-butt which is kinda neat. They also don't purr much or hiss. I've never heard him hiss and he only purrs in the evening when he settles in for the night, and even then it's less than a minute.

They're unique but not for everyone. We got a good one with a calm personality, but they can be very wild. They don't do well with children or other animals, and aren't really starter cats. If you have pull down door knobs, they can open and close doors, if they reallllly want to. I've seen our boy break into the spare room where we keep his toys and steal a whole package of hair ties we use for our fetch games. They aren't dog smart but they'll figure out how to get what they want.

Their party piece really is their jumping ability. I have some videos of him making vertical jumps that have to be seen to be believed. We have a lot of tall furniture, some close to 7' and he can jump to the top, no problem. Our tall China closet you see in the photo is about 7' tall, and while I can't stop him from jumping up there, I worry about him jumping down so I put a chair next to it so he uses that now. That and he whacked his head on the Concorde there once from a vertical jump so the chair makes his life easier. Thy climb by nature and he spends most of his time up high. Just a feature of the breed. None of our tall stuff has anything light on top, so he doesn't know things over.

They're pretty good with boundaries but he's still a cat so he doesn't always listen. We initially tried to train him with treats but he doesn't like anything we've given him and he hates people food. So positive treat reinforced training didn't work. Negative reinforcement with cats usually fails. He doesn't do many things that irritate me so we let it go. Stays off the counters for the most part, I think the granite is too cold.

Like I said before, we got a cool one, but they aren't all like our boy, they can be destructive and a handful if you're not prepared. Also, be ready for sticker shock. Depending on the coat, they can range from $1,000 to Rolex price territory fast. I've seen some in the 5 figure range for desired markings. Ours is a marble with the nice chest stripes. He has some of the cheetah spots on his back, and was around $2k. You've never felt soft until you've touched a bengal

Do they live a "normal" cat life expectancy? Or is it like dogs, the bigger they are the shorter they live. Because he is cool. We have two house cats that are old and when they go we were looking at either no cats or a Bengal or Savanna cat like Quecumber's. We also have these two knuckleheads.

It's a 1603 I promise. Plus an Asian Short Tailed Otter that, a couple of minutes after she took this photo, ran under the fence and took a bite out of my wife's leg!
