Sadly I really started on the forum after his passing, but just as I still see memories of my father who passed away 13 years ago, I love the old posts that are raised and I can see why JJ is the most prolific now any maybe ever on the forum. His posts are always great to read.

For our US friends maybe you better not know what a tosser is, rest assured it is a term of endearment when used in this part of the world.

I started lurking on TRF when JJ was ill.

At that time I learned a bit about his passion, compassion, knowledge and courage.

I also learned a lot about the passion, compassion and knowledge of the TRF community. It was/is awesome to see the outpouring of respect from Forum members to JJ and his family!

There was a running thing between JJ and Jocke that produced some great laughs, Photoshopped pictures, and a ton of memories for those of us lucky enough to have been around.

Then, JJ took some time off from the board and when he returned, he was the same affable guy he'd always been and of course everyone was glad to have him back.

Later, JJ had to announce that he was ill and that his prognosis was not good and even through that JJ was pretty much the same JJ we'd always known.

Eventually, JJ came face to face with the inevitable and even though he had kept us all apprised of his condition, his loss was still hard to take.

So, that's why you see so many tributes to JJ. He meant a lot to the people on this board and his departure left a significant vacuum that in reality can never be filled.

Life will simply go on as it always does, just never quite the same, both because JJ was here and because he no longer is.
Thank you for this. I never came across JJ, but the widespread respectful references to him help me understand why this forum is more free of trolls than most. I wanted to tag this kind-hearted post so I can return to the thread, when a mean comment sneaks through.

You guys can call me the biggest hockey puck in the world! If only you spoke half as kindly of me, should I encounter that unfortunate day!

Cheers to JJ! I’m sure we’d have had some laughs!!!!

JJ was one of the first people to welcome me when I joined the forum.

I didn't really "know" him, but from his threads, I could tell the only thing that surpassed his love for watches was his love for family & life!

He was one of a kind. We all will leave a mark, but none will linger in the hearts of so many as his. In his own words, he would affectionately refer to of all us, his friends: "You Bastids."

Cheers to you, JJ, my friend. May you know up there how much you were loved

GNU JJ,

I was thinking about you just now, old friend. I miss you and I wish we could Skype once more; you were always there when I needed you.

J.J. definitely made Australia and the world a better place. Loved the selfies he made of his meals. With the tall glass of beer within reach. I never knew just what he was eating, but he always finished his plate.

I knew JJ when I was an admin at Watch Talk Forums. That was probably around 2004-2006. Not sure anymore. But everyone loved JJ.

He had a blue two-tone Yacht-Master that he shared pics of every single day... like five of them.

He always said that he's never, ever going to sell that watch that he loved so much. Well it took like three months before he sold it.

Funny guy and everyone was always making fun of him (in a good way).

I had many PM discussions with him. Just regular talk. I was very sad to hear his passing.

I actually wrote a blog of a 16613 Bluesy recently and dedicated it to JJ.
