Interesting article on online passwords...
I have to admit all my passwords aren't all that great but I do change them every 6 months. I was hacked on this site a year or so ago. And using PASSWORD1234, was never a great idea.
The concept of a different password for every account may be ideal but man, what a chore that would be. And anyone who uses Prime or Netflix and has to log in at every hotel they stay in knows what a pain that is to use long long passwords. Anyways.... https://themarkup.org/newsletter/hel...5-c44028e4143e

If I can remember to do it (LOL), I always bring along a Chromecast. That way I can cast my streaming from my phone or any other device to that TV without ever having to enter in a single password. Works the same with a Roku stick or Apple TV, Amazon Fire stick, etc.

I use 1Password as a Password manager. When I was in the army the passwords were ridiculous, we needed multiple, complex passwords to get in, it actually degraded security because everyone just kept a notebook next to their computer with their passwords. They used to change every month, it was just ridiculous.

My in laws house was broken into a few years ago, and they kept a hard copy of their passwords in file called “passwords” The break in happened while they were on vacation, so my wife and I dealt with the banks and other companies that had to be contacted. It was truly a pain in the arse, but nothing was hacked - luckily. |

Use a password generator and 2 factor authentication.

Two factor authentication is not foolproof, but it's the best that we've got that isn't terribly cumbersome.
I use Google password manager to help me out, and of course a super-strong Google password with 2FA. And since I lost a phone a few years ago, the phone is now secured as well, which is yes, a real PITA. Work requires a strong 16+ character password that I can't use Google to populate, and it's hard to type, and of course I have to lock my computer even if I leave just to go to the bathroom. The guy in the office next to mine is over the entire network security group, so I have to behave. OMG, the stories he can tell.
