Thoughts on the 5168G-001

Simple question: Any love for this aquanaut (talking about the blue not the green) or in that price range something else should/could be considered?

Thanks for your feedbacks.

Yes I love it. Gorgeous dial. For me the 5164/A must be considered.

5168G-001 is a beautiful watch, I prefer it to the 5168G-010.

I am still not sure how durable the white gold bezel is and I'm waiting my friend Aquaman to give me feed back on it.

The 5168 collects scratches like any other PM watch, but it's not terrible. I wear mine regularly and they both still look fantastic. Bracelets end up taking the brunt of an active lifestyle and that is alleviated by the rubber strap. Except for the clasp, that is completely scratched to hell on mine

Does it seem like a 40K watch? Not to me but I think it looks great.

One of the most beautiful Patek’s imo. I prefer it over the 64a, which I find a bit too thick compared to the 68. But many people feel the 68a wears too flat...

Recently tried the green 68a, and blue is definitely nicer.

The 5168G is really nice...

That blue dial really shines. I've had one on, and I would say, even though it is 42mm, it wears really well, even if you don't have a large wrist.

5168 over 5164 for me. But a steel 5167 over all of them as it’s a sports watch.

Love 5167, and no scratches so far and I wear it every day.

I know from lurking that most are against paying over retail, and I appreciate that point of view. I’ve eyed this watch since it came out and just love it. I’ve been offered $52,000 for a 2017 example full set unworn. I can face the facts I’m not getting any in-demand PP at retail, so gray is my only viable option.

Thoughts? I’m trying to reason that it’s only a $10k premium over MSRP + Tax.

If I wanted that piece , 52k would be a great buy - offer them 50k and pay by amx. Whatever you do NO wire transfer! James in San Antonio Tx

It’s a gorgeous piece. I know DavidSW has one listed for $59K. If you could get it for $52K it’s a pretty darn good deal. This watch will always be in demand and it looks so much better than the khaki green version.

I am a fan of the 5168G - I like how it is a larger 42mm compared to the 40mm other aquanauts. I hope to get a 5168G (blue) or 5968 (orange!) one day!

$52k for a LNIB seems like a really good deal. David's "very good" condition you can see some wear and market price seems to hover around $60k.

Love the watch. The WG adds a little weight to a very light watch. Dial is among the best color I've seen and wears very slim for a 42mm watch.

Seems like a fair deal. They are rare, ADs get very few of those. The dial is amazing, and I like the size, despite my small wrist. The 5065 and 5168 are my favourite Aquas. I don’t wear my 5167 very much. Just feels less special imo.

The ADs in the UK only get 1 piece per year

They are gorgeous watches and wear very well

I think the blue dial is beautiful!! I thought 42mm would be too large, but when I got to try one, it seemed very nice.

I did end up pulling the trigger on this one and I'm over the moon. To see a grail watch on your own wrist is definitely a nice feeling!!

Of course, I'd be happier if I walked into an AD and got this, but I got a very fair deal given the state of the market and I don't think I'm too exposed even when that "correction" decides to hit.

Thanks all for their input along the way!

That ASMR you get when putting on a grail watch is indeed indescribable. Congrats and welcome to the Aquanaut Club, an exclusive group of Patek sports lovers.
