Celebrating 40 years with my first Rolex
My wife turned to me on my 40th birthday and said, “I got you a few small gifts, but I think you should get something special to commemorate your 40th birthday - it only happens once.”
She knew that thing would be a watch, but neither of us thought it would be “the watch.” Through conversations with my pops, brother, and best friend about the Tudor and the Breitling I was considering, it became clear that nothing in that lane would satisfy the real itch. The advice was overwhelmingly to get what I REALLY wanted if it was financially possible, even a bit of a stretch. A few days ago I pulled the trigger on a 2010 stainless submariner. I remember my dad getting a bluesy when he turned 40 and I always admired it. I have no regrets and I love my wife more than ever for removing the biggest obstacle. You married guys no what I mean. I love this watch and pretty much everything about it. Happy to be part of the forum! Can’t wait to get into some good conversations with some watch loving folks.
