in(home)coming

i reluctantly let this go several months ago, and regretted it ever since.
luckily, the new owner couldn't get attached to it...which created an oppty to get it back.

in parallel, i had been admiring this particular cartier model from afar for sometime now. in fact, it first caught my eye long before i first acquired the reverso.

now two flippin' (literally and figuratively!) square watches...on straps...which i thought i was trying to get away from!
funny how things work out!

That Cartier has been in my dreams recently. Never seen one in the metal - need to make that happen.

i really wanted to find the collection privée version, which comes in rose gold, a special guilloche dial and a round sapphire 'port hole' caseback that showcases the decorated movement. however, these were produced in very limited quantity several years ago and difficult to find pre-owned.

that being said, I'm thrilled with the SS version. it's a nice complement to the rose of the reverso.
and the strap options with this steel case will be fun.

I'm having a few fagliano homage straps made, and both models having 20mm lugs will be a great sharing benefit.

heads up, it wears like a dress watch more than the grande ultra thin. see the photo comparison.
it may be closer to the size of a grande taille... but much thinner.

Love the basculante. Been looking for one on and off for a while now. Such a classic piece.

That's a lovely pair. I've always liked rectangular watches and those are two of the best.

i consider these my go-to dress watches... both thin, time-only and on straps.
arguably, the basculante more so as the overall proportions, for my wrist, are perfect as that classification

altho very thin, the grande case size of this reverso is slightly long. don't get me wrong, it's a stunner... as i described, i missed it so much after i had regrettably sold it that i bought it back!...but, for me, the perfect version would've been to maintain this thinness but perhaps with the case length of the gone-but-not-forgotten grande taille.

new shoes for the two squares.
homage to fagliano.
i quite like how they turned out, particularly the color combo of dark burgundy with the rose gold (and no dreaded lug overhang!) and the whiskey with the steel.
both in cordovan.
