Rose Gold Comparison Rolex vs AP vs PP

How does the rose gold color differ between Rolex vs the high horology players?

I recently held a DD40 RG and it looked a little too pink for my taste, though the CHNR was more of a bronze. Never seen a RG Daytona in the metal.

What are your thoughts.. all pictures will be very much appreciated.

Thanks and Happy 2020 TRF fam

AP has the best rose gold mix.
Rolex is more on the pink side.
PP has an orange tinge that I do not like. Resembles costume jewelry.

Have had both RG Rolex and Patek. I much prefer the Rolex rose gold. More “life” than Patek’s.

Tend to agree with this, but I think dial color also has a lot to do with the overall perception of the tone of the gold. Overall I'd say Rolex is more on the pink end of the spectrum while AP is more red / coppery. I think AP also has the best brushed finishes in the business, which adds to the RG richness.

I agree the Rolex looked to pink when i tried on a TT DJ41. Although the CHNR looks very nice from photos. Depends on your skin tone as well how it'll look on you. I'd like to see all 3 brands side by side.

Agree 100%

AP Rose is the BEST

Rolex Rose can be too copperish alot o the time. Certainly in some lighting conditions it doesnt look good.

Rolex Rose Gold looks like a shiny new Penny - like way to much copper

I prefer Cartier Rose Gold for the color

Now I’m going to have to investigate the differences in rose gold just for curiosities sake. I have the Patek 5980-1r, and have never looked at the AP or the Rolex (as if I could find one) to see the color differences first hand. Interesting!

No PP but the 5980 r is on my list.

Not the best photo but here’s a comparison of my DD40 and my RG ROC and RO. Owning both, AP is the superior for RG mix. It’s a beautiful rose gold hands down. The ever rose in the Rolex Rose gold makes it little too pink in my opinion.

Curious about this as well. I used to have a 15400 which I found to be quite delicate compared to my steel Rolex pieces.

APs RG is my personal favorite. I don’t mind the Rolex RG - it does appear more copperish to me as well though. Patek is similar-ish to AP IMHO.

I like the AP and PP rose gold best by far. Rolex is a little to coppery for me. Still nice though.

I agree with the summary above on AP and Rolex RG. I much prefer AP RG over Rolex RG. I personally do not like the hue of RG Rolex has - does not look good on me, may be better on others.

I haven't seen enough PP RG in person to comment on their coloring.

As others have mentioned, light does play a factor.

Here's some comparsons of my DD40 in different lighting.

Beautiful in every light!

There is not enough difference in Rolex or AP Rosegold to make me choose one over the other. They are close enough that it remains a choice about which watch I like most. After flirting with AP RO and ROC, I chose Rolex.

Which rose gold is prone to more visible scratches? And which rose gold is closest to the rose gold in Cartier?

Rose gold on the gmt2 was definitely way to copperish for my liking so went for the Daytona everose way way smoother softer .
