Submariner on a nato strap?

Hi guys,

looking to get a sub to specfically wear with a nato strap. I have 6.25" inch wrists so typically wear 36-40mm watches at most, depending on lug size.

I was wondering which model of recent subs would suit this set up the most? I'm looking to keep costs below 10k USD and prefer a newer model to older, and thin rather than bulky, if at all possible.

Sounds like the latter end of 5 series is a great fit for you!

4 and 5 digit look best on a Nato strap IMO, although the new 124060 might look alright ... haven’t seen one on a nato yet.

In that price range, and for your wrist size, I’d say 5 digit is your best bet.

Sean Connery wore a vintage Sub on a NATO playing James Bond, so yes.

Waiting on some Crown and Buckle 21mm Supreme and nylon natos as we speak! Nothing like the gorgeous SS bracelet but I like to fiddle.

5 digit will always look and wear best on strap as stated above.

I almost always wear my 116610LN on a SAS gray zulu. I think it looks absolutely fantastic AND...it save desk diving marks on the bracelet. Gives the watch a very understated look and I find I get less eyes on the watch which is really a good thing IMHO.

I wear mine on a NATO from time to time. Don't care if people think it doesn't look right.

Would be awesome to see some pics when it comes in and when on the new Sub

OP I agree with others, sounds like a 5 digit is your best best. I'd go 14060m or 16610ln....if 4 digit a 5513

IMO subs and sports model Rolex look way better on nato/rubber. The bracelet is kind of old man-ish.

The latter 5 is a better fit on NATO I guess.

Love the 114060 on NATO. I will concede 5 digits look better and 114060 spring bar to case distance is barely wide enough to fit even thin straps (13mm is tight). Won’t stop me from enjoying the look though.

Four & five digits look great on natos; 14060 2-liners or 4 are fantastic. Everything is to your own preferences; Imo the new 6 digits bracelet is so solid I dont even think twice about swapping for new straps. If you want a newer watch but you like to swap straps pickup a BB58.

Another vote for considering the BB58. Looks great on a NATO and should fit better on a 6.25 inch wrist.

Regardless - you can’t go wrong with a 5 digit sub

I've had both the 5 and 6 digits on nato, and personally think the 5 digits work best.

If you're looking for thin, then definitely a 5 digit.
The 6 digit for me felt too bulky on a nato.
Go for a late model 14060 as the case is slightly thinner than a 16610.

Same band on my 14060m and love it. I only have it on for half the year in the during diving months. Sometimes when we go on vacation where scuba is planned I’ll put it on the nylon. In all honesty I prefer its lightness and non jingle movement to the bracelet.
They both look great though and I’ll add, I don’t worry about what others say either not thst they ever said anything to me, it’s a diving, tool watch and the nato is certainly tool ready. Military wore Subs on nylon and of course so did Bond.

Yes, please do update us. Interested to see how the slimmed down lugs work on a nato

I think most of us concur that a nato on a 5 digit no date sub is a terrific combo. The Rolex ss bracelet is a thing of beauty and where these 6 digits belong.

But I like to fiddle and well......subs and natos have a history so why not with proper spring bar tool on the new case.

The slimmer lugs and crown guards are working well with a 21mm nato. A bit of shine in the material is looking good with the bezel. Digging the green, cant wait to see other straps on these......
