Thoughts on adding the Omega sapphire sandwich as my second piece?

As much as i love my D500 would the Omega Moon watch be a good choice to add as a little brother? 2 of the best chronographs on the market. The sapphire sandwich is going for about 5k or less? Thoughts?

Awesome choice. I have a 3572.50 tritium speedmaster, great price for an aweosme patina.

Highly recommended. It’s my daily. I prefer the hesalite instead of the sapphire but I do like the sapphire’s see through caseback

Can't stand the milky ring around edge of the crystal on the Omega Speedies. Hesalite would be my choice.

Somehow a moon watch is an ideal alternative companion of a Rolex, it's like chocolate sauce is a great companion of vanilla ice cream..

After a few days with Rolex, putting on the speedy is a real pleasure and the passion grows again during the day.

BEWARE however: Speedy are dangerous animals (for your wallet). They are sold with a magical curse. As soon as you buy one, you get into the moon watch historical bug and you want to buy them all. Especially as there's so many awesome limited editions...

I recently bought a Speedmaster Tintin moonwatch, a beautiful and rare low production moonwatch which is expected to be the next Paul Newman Daytona in a decade or two in terms of rarity+special story behind. And now I have eyes on so many others... Dark Side of the Moon, Moonphase, etc. etc. It never stop.

This warning needs to be heeded......I bought my first Speedy 6 months ago and now have three!

OP I'd try on both the Sapphire Sandwich and the original Hesalite to see which one you prefer best, both are great

I love my Speedy Pro and really look forward to putting it on my wrist. I have owned a few Speedy Pro's over the years, my current one will stay with me forever. I thought I would go sapphire this time for something different, I always had Hesalite, turns out, I just could not do it. I just love the Hesalite, it is really the only way to go if you want a moon watch.

The Speedmaster's are great watches and there are a lot of options. Go for it.

I vote yes.

One bit of additional advice: the effort required to twist the crown can vary for each individual Speedmaster Pro, and having one with too much resistance in its crown will spoil the pleasure of living with this watch, so you'll want to confirm ahead of time that the individual watch you're about to buy has a reasonable amount of resistance when twisting the crown. If you can't wind the one you're thinking of buying before you buy it, then ask the seller to confirm there isn't excessive resistance in the crown when winding the watch.

I made my own sandwich. Purchased a Hesalite MOTM .. and then for around $90 I purchased the Sapphire case back from Custom Watch Concepts in Germany. Fits perfect and now I have a Hesalite / Sapphire Sandwich.

I'm wearing this Hesalite Speedy Pro today. Had an 16520 white dial in the past and both dials of the 116520. I realized this weekend how much I love the Speedmaster, should have gotten one decades ago. I no longer fret over when or if The Call for a 500C ever comes.
Whichever you choose, I suggest buying it on bracelet then add straps for versatility.

I choose the sapphire sandwich and it just might be my favorite watch. It would definitely be the first piece I would replace if my collection ever disappeared.

I just wish they had made the winding crown a little bit bigger.

My son owns it now.
