Would you...part 2: SD43 + SS SkyD for WG DD 40

Follow up survey to my last post on the WG Oysterflex Daytona.

A second option I am considering is selling my 2 Dwellers and getting the DD 40mm in White Gold.

Sell this:

For this:

Any thoughts would be appreciated. I guess you could say I am trying to streamline.

Heck no!!! You go from two very special, beautiful SS models to something that I perceive as very “blah”

Is it a beautiful watch? Yes of course, but I don’t think WG Rolexes are worth it IMO. They look like steel but are 2.5-3x the cost. No thanks, I prefer variety over one watch.

Nope. Really like that DD but what you would have to give up ( 2 great watches, variey etc) is too much unless you have a fair few other watches.

Could definitely go to a white dial WG SKyDweller with Romans, but not the Day Date

Go for it! That particular WG DD40 with the blue dial is quite special. It is a timeless beauty. I would ditch those two SS watches in no time.

Three really nice watches. There is no “right” answer.

I would maybe do that trade if the DD40 is your grail watch and to many it is. There is nothing like wearing a PM watch. It feels very special.

Price wise its about right. SD43 2nd hand around $11-12k and SkyD around $13-14k.

Brand new DD40 WG blue dial probably around $25k - $26k. I actually think your doing quite good with that trade in terms of price. Are you trading with a TS or private?

Do not do it with the blue one unless you have something else to rotate -- blue DD is a great piece but you could get tired of its shining (bezel shines, romans shine, dial shines in certain manner as well). Used to have this blue DD. Used to have WG SkyD black on a bracelet. Now in a hard process of choosing between wg dd40 rhodium stripe VS chnr + black steel sky dweller (this pair is by far winning my mind).

I don't care for the SD43 at all, and I'm on the SkyD fence (don't know if I'd use the complications much), so I'd likely make this trade.

The DD is beautiful but I’d keep both Dwellers, the SD is one of my favourites.

The SkyD is amazing - wearing it now. If you want PM, go WG SkyD

nope... id rather get the RG Skydweller with the Rhodium dial if you are going to flip those two watches. I tried that on last week and i would get that before a DD for sure.

I like the SD43 and have owned the Sky-Dweller in both YG and WG and neither stuck in the collection. The DD40 is going to wear significantly smaller than either of your watches and there is no micro adjustment to the bracelet. I would sit tight and look for a grail before I traded.

I wouldn't do it for the WG but the RG with the green dial is something else.

No. Although that blue dial is absolutely amazing it’s the Roman Numerals that are the deal breaker for me. A different model WG DD40 and I might answer differently.

I would certainly sell 2 SS for a PM, and if the WG DD is your pinnacle PM then go for it!

I somewhat agree with this. I don’t know if there is a blue dial stick marker DD 40’s, I certainly haven’t seen any.

At this time I do not believe that blue is available with sticks. At least it’s not able to be configured that way on the website.
