I suspect the production have these may have run or is very close to and the folks who got them are very lucky indeed. The 5970J which completed that reference was very short lived. Wonder if they plan a J in this reference.

The color combination is simply perfect on the dial - salmon base, dark-colored numerals and grey hour/min hands.

Thanks! The dial is somewhat difficult to capture on the iPhone. If you look at the watch in person while also looking at it through the iPhone, it can look very different depending on the lighting conditions.

That would be quite incredible, and also uncharacteristic of Patek today.

Agreed. When I saw the dial during the Patek's hands-on event (indoor), it is a warm tangerine color, but when I took pictures of it using my Samsung, it appears light peach, which is at least a few shades lighter and "colder" than the tangerine color.

This picture taken by ablogtowatch appears to be the closest to what I saw in person. It's a very rich and intense hue, and I love it.

Its surprising to see them sit, especially in places like NYC. The watch is very nice but the dial colour isn't what people were expecting when seeing in the flesh. I would seriously consider buying one whenever they settle below and at a fair cost on the grey market.

I’m not THAT surprised ... I mean at $187,000 MSRP, >$200k w tax, I wouldn’t expect it to fly out the store the minute each one gets there. Though I am surprised this isn’t an allocation piece?

Patek have been questionable in the last few years as many grand complications have not been application pieces and over produced, making collectors disappointed. The 5270 line hasn’t had the best run starting with the “chin” at 6 with the first production. What i meant by surprising is that not many have been delivered and they’re already sitting is disappointing to see but great if you like this model as we will see closer to the end of the year being below retail with pristine examples so its a win if you actually like the reference.

I also think Patek has over produced certain grand complication pieces. Auction/secondary market values of some amazing references such as 5370P, 5204P reflect this. These days a new customer can obtain a 5370P or 5204P easily compared to a 5711 even though both 5370P and 5204P are considered application pieces.

You seriously need at leaat 30% discount to really want to buy 5370p and 5204p from the AD. They are available everywhere. Patek totally screws up these ref. sadly.

No AD will give you discount off a grand complication or a 5270p. You may if extremely lucky get 10% but you would have to be a good customer and really depending on taxes may just be 5% off or retail cost (some places having higher than 10% sales tax). The only effective way is to purchase currency/buy in a weaker location and claim tax back to get the best possible outcome.

Not sure I can agree, we are in a very strange market currently with Nautilus and to a lesser extent Aquanaut but it is certainly not an historically usual expectation to buy a luxury piece and not loose money during its production cycle. Whilst it might be true that it is very very difficult to get a 5711 as a ‘new’ customer this was not the case only a few years ago and at some point will not be the case again - and as a good client it is not hard at all even in the current market to get a 5711 quickly.
I have indeed had to go through an application for my 5370P and was extremely happy when it was approved by TS. The wait for the 5370P will be the second longest for any piece and only behind the 5131R (but that was 8 years). I agree it is easy to buy a 5370P on the used market (it is easy to buy anything on the used market) but still used prices are strong (much higher than the tax free price of the piece) and although I know of at least one that was cheaper at auction what can one expect of a current production piece - even one as gorgeous as the 5370P. As to whether PP is making lots, I don’t believe they are, the piece is produced in the special High Grand Complications department that only includes MR and Split Second Chrono’s (and other special pieces) and the final assembly alone (once the piece has been fully assembled and disassembled) takes their best watch guys 3 months - these specialists split their time across all High Grand comps including servicing and likely only work on one 5370P per year. I wasn’t collecting PP 20-30 years ago but I doubt the market for High Grand Comps was much different.

My expectation is not to make money, it is to have the best Split Second Chrono on the market and perhaps one of the best classically inspired pieces PP has produced for a very long time.

Its estimated between 12-24 5370p’s a year & production starting 2015, that would mean 48-96. But there are around 15-20 for sale on chrono24 (we cant confirm if thats correct unless contacting every single seller) but that would mean the estimation would be higher past 96 maybe at the 120-130 mark. Still a smaller production then the loved 5070P 175-200 & 5970p with an estimation of 500. People have been saying there have seen multiple 5370p’s sitting in displays but again would have to call to check that. The 5370p did not appear large to me, a very nice size and a beautiful enamel dial. I may go ahead with one if i work out a deal with my local AD instead of going grey and picking one up for $190-195k as id like it on my personal name. Id rather take the hit now as i want to keep it for life and wait to see people love this reference and return to retail after discontinuation.

Although it started off as a application piece, it appears some AD’s can order it on behalf of themselves and have it available for anyone to purchase. I hope it does get discontinued this year as it has now had a 4 year production run.

Most pieces on Chrono24 are not real.
I doubt production/deliveries started until the end of 2015/early 2016.

Congratulations on your 5370P. I agree it is an amazing reference and to me it is the best time only split second chronograph Patek has ever produced. (2512 is 46 mm, 5959 is 33 mm and 5950 is cushion shaped)

I was talking from my personal experience. One of my friends obtained a 5370P as his first Patek from an AD in London. He had to go through an application process and it was approved, he was told he would get it within 1 year and he got in 7 or 8 months.

On 2 separate occasions my AD had asked me whether I would be interested in a 5370P or 5204P. Even though those were application pieces the AD was able to order those and I was told the company had invested an obtained those pieces (may be a collector backed out)

Again congratulations on the wonderful 5370P

It is interesting to know how allocations for the grand complications are. I know for a fact my AD has had 3-4 5370p’s. I cant confirm if the one i am interested in purchasing is the 3rd or this is the 4th one he’s received. When I asked him (i deal with the owner) he says he orders directly and doesn’t need to apply for a customer. I will confirm later how many total he has actually gotten but i know at the very least 3. It makes me wonder if there has been over 100 produced as its confusing on production quantity and how many are currently sitting at AD’s.

I can only speak of my own application and the approval procedure, however not sure of the process if I was to pull out before taking delivery - I guess it is up to the AD if they take the piece into stock?
With regards to an AD having multiple pieces over a 4 year period, depending on the market (London) I would read very little into what this means for the quantity produced.

If you walk into many ADs in Asia and Ocenia, I'm certain a load of them are willing to provide you 5370p. Regardless of its difficulty to obtain, the market itself for this piece is very soft. It is no longer an application piece. If it is claimed as an application piece, no way for a first time buyer (even a 2nd or 3rd) to get an approval to purchase it. You have to be a long term customer which normally takes years to build. So the term application piece is somewhat misinterpreted in a way.
