The 2 vertical sub-dials also not for me. Date window in top half of the dial instead with logo below date window.

I enjoy wearing mine. I have a 6.5 inch wrist and comfortable. I also have the 5164 and in general when I travel overseas wear the later although I have worn the 5990. I like the two complications (GMT and Chronograph) together.

The 5990 is an awesome watch, and imo one of Patek’s best releases in the last few years. Clearly the size and aesthetics are not to everyone’s taste - but it really is not that thick, it’s about the same thickness as a Daytona. Also thinner than some other Pateks with a chrono eg the 5960 and 5905. BTW it is no Offshore, that’s for sure.
I would generally agree that Nautilus usually work better in a thinner case, but for me it’s because the hinges don’t look right when they are bigger. The case of the 5990 is redesigned and I find it very well balanced. I don’t mind the vertical dial layout one bit, but again it’s just a preference. If the dials had been a contrasting colour I don’t think it would have worked. The only thing I would change is to adjust the date with the crown. Not a fan of having to use a pusher. If you want the top steel sports watch going, look no further than the 5990. |

I like it and want one... Prices are hard to get under $100K right now,
unless you are fortunate to be "on the list". My AD said this is one of the hardest non-application pieces to get right now, much more so than 5711 even (going by AD allocations). |

not that long ago 5990's and 5726's were pretty much the only Nautilus you could bank on getting from an AD (sometimes with a few months wait) even if you had no prior experience |

It’s my favourite Nautilus. I came very close to choosing the 5712 instead, but the 5990 is more ‘me’.

I love the 5990, and it's next on my Patek wait list (in top position). Hopefully it'll arrive by end of this year or early next year.
I'm looking forward to more 5990 variants, too. Perhaps a 5990/1R. And if/when they finally do another full platinum on platinum (i.e., the 5711/1P-011), I'd hope they would do a 5990/1P. It'll be a 300g behemoth, and I will absolutely love and adore it. |

Best ss sports watch money can buy with one draw back. Watch and bezel will scratch up easy. If you don’t mind like me then go for it for sure.

GREAT photos and 100% agree !
Loved the 5980 and still do, but the 5990 is another level - for me, the coolest Nautilus ! |

I didn't quite understand the 5990 and agreed with the "nautilus should be light and thin" sentiment. I even tried a couple on and still didn't think there was something quite right about a nautilus with dimensions similar to a daytona.
Then one day, I said the hell with it and bought the 5990 and 5968 am now willing to admit I was wrong on both watches. They'll never replace the iconic 5711 and 5164, but they all have their place in a collection. |

Must admit I’m starting to warm to this one but would have to be an additional Nautilus to a collection for me

I was looking at a 5712 for years...until I tried it on - wayyy too light and dainty IMO. Couldn’t feel it. Moved on to the 5990 and it’s my favorite piece. The heft is most excellent and feels just right on my wrist. It exudes subtle but hefty presence. Just do it! Sent from my Zeitwerk |

I think this piece gets DC'd as a SS model.....
........when I bought my 5726A and had a chat with the owner of the store, I got the sense that he believes that Patek will soon stop putting these more complicated movements in SS cases and save them for PM cases only, or possible variants of TT.
This is simply one man's opinion who is an AD, so take it FWIW. In that instance, the 5726 and the 5990 would both be candidates for PM cases moving forward, which I could see happening-- especially the 5990. I think with the 5726, the 5726a will soon be dc'd and a PM version will be introduced to pair with the 5726 blue dial. This is another reason I'm looking forward to getting that 5990 later this year, fingers crossed. Of course, watch this be wrong, and they simply change the 5990 to a blue dial in which case I'll be kicking myself for not waiting for that |

Impressive watch but don't like the dial layout. Preferred the 5980.

Personally I prefer a more restrained look for both the G-Class and the Nautilus - done w the Nautilus for now, G-Class still outstanding... |
