What? Patek will only sell me the blue rubber strap for my 5168g-001

So, I am over the moon with my 5168g as many of you know. Thank you for all the great wishes. I had asked my AD to supply me an extra blue (I live very far away from an AD), khaki from the 5168g-010, and a black from the 5968a. The AD tried to make the order. Good news and bad news when I went to pick up the watch.

Bad news: Patek denied the order to the AD and supplied us with only one blue rubber strap. Good news: the AD was so awesome that they gifted me the strap. However, I’d love some variety with my 5168g.

Anyone have ideas how to acquire these other color rubber straps?

patek are getting quite tight about changing strap colours

they want to know you own the actual watch for the strap you have asked for, and as the 5968 and green 5168 have only really come in to the wild, they are very precious

but id ring some other ADs and see what there response is, as some people have been lucky and alot havent

Everyone around here has the blue strap for their 5164 except me it seems. I’m told no.

There even tougher on the 5650 strap as its a Ltd edition watch, just like the original khaki

They are available you just need to know who to ask

For a 5960G they will take your strap away if you upgrade to the deployant buckle.

From what I've read it used to be easy to get a strap from an AD.

Great looking watch. I would call some AD's in larger markets and ask to buy the rubber strap in the color you want. They may have it in stock and not have to go through PP.

Think the crazy asking prices for the 67 Khaki has messed things up for everyone who now wants an extra strap, brands always start profiling and being difficult once something becomes hot, so PP are tight, while AP will sell you a dozen different ROO styles.

I think this is because Patek is trying to ensure that we aren't feeding the replica market with authentic straps / buckles.

Try ordering a new bracelet from Rolex and see how that goes. :)

Might've been an issue due to the multiple strap order. Might be easier to space them out, to be honest.

I’m probably on my own on this, but I fully agree and support Patek Philippe on this. Unlike a generic croc or leather strap, I feel the design and colour of the Aquanaut band is part of the overall design.

I also think PP done you a favour refusing the khaki option anyway (yuk)

You can of course still get the black and khaki straps, you just need to dig deeper and buy the watches as well.

I don't think Patek was thinking that far, to be honest. I wouldn't put it past them, but I really don't.

I think it's less about the fake-watch-with-real-strap concern as it is about maintaining the design PP originally intended. I've always believed that was, in fact, what motivated Rolex (at least in generations past): they'd sell you any bracelet, as long as it was an original, Rolex-approved/manufactured, pairing.

16710 and 16570 used identical cases and Oyster bracelets, but AFAIK, Rolex would only sell you a Jubilee bracelet for the 16710, as it was an originally-available configuration.

Same thing with special edition parts on regular release watches. Got a 16610 LV and want a black bezel insert? No problem. Got the regular version? If you wanna go green, you gotta go grey...

Why not try for the 5968 orange strap? I don't personally go for such bright straps, but actually think the orange may complement the blue dial better than black.

Interesting and perhaps true. I just would love some variety.

I asked my AD for a blue strap, he says ok. It arrives after a couple of hundred bucks later. All is good, but I don't think its blue! Looks black to me and I am not saying my eyes are perfect. Does this part number mean anything about color?
