Rolex Sky-Dweller Giveaway email, possible scam ?
I got an email from admin@rolexforms.com this morning, announcing the above giveaway. This email also encourage me to click on HTTP://WWW.ROLEXFORUMS , and pay with PAYPAL.
I found this email strange and a possible scam, because the Giveaway started on October 3, and has been long closed. Why would the admin of the Forum sent out notice for something that has been closed ? |

I entered the giveaway thanks to that email and my pledge status has been updated (very quickly, might I add).

I see you guys got in because of the same email. So, the email is good, just over cautious on my part. However, I still wonder why the Admin did not send that notice email out to people like us on October 3, at the start of the Giveway ? Is there a tier system on notices ?

No, it's been announced before. If you visit the "after dark" more regular you could have entered already.
Everybody has an equal chance

Then after a few days of the regular readers having a chance to enter, then an email is sent out to all pledge members to let them know it is running. I think it helps Steve/Lol-x to control the inflow of donations and process everything as he does it all manually. If he sent out an email I think almost immediately he would be over run with donations past the limit of entries. I think it strikes a nice balance :)

Hopefully you still get a chance to enter if you are interested. I don't think the places are full yet.

Free Rolex giveaway screams scam. Even if its a legit program by the admins, it opens up the doors for scammers to replicate a phishing scam later because people are more inclined to click on a familiar link. My two cents.
