Any problems with display etc is normally down to settings on your machine or whatever browser settings you are using.

Hi Peter
My problem occurs when I view the forum on an iPad. When I 'swipe' the screen to look further down a page the page does not move smoothly. I have no problems with other forums or pages, it's just TRF, and this has only happened recently, in the last few weeks. I'm not technical at all as far as computers are concerned, but nothing has been changed on the iPad so I'm wondering what has caused this jerkyness (if that word actually exists!)? |

Are you viewing TRF using the native Safari browser on the iPad? Or TapaTalk, Google Chrome or another app or browser? Peter’s point is that the iPad performance itself could be the issue. And that is true if your iPad has inadvertently been subjected to some tracking botnet at work. Any lag in rendering photos (which would slow scrolling) can be caused by several other factors. One likely factor is the latency in your internet connection. So many people working from home, students distance learning, etc. affects your provider’s distribution network and backbone to the NAP. Also backbone providers are shifting traffic constantly due to congestion. So your round trip delay, and number of hops to get to certain websites has an effect, too. Just a few thoughts. I just ran a test on my old iPad Air II that is updated to the current iOS
On Safari I have no issues with the forum, pictures, scrolling etc. Could be your device, the iOS version or your internet speed.

I’ve been using my iPad to view and haven’t had any problems at all.

Thanks very much for the replies.
I have no idea which system my iPad uses, I just turn it on and look at it. It works find for anything else I look at, but only plays up when I look at TRF! All other computers in the house work fine. It’s rare that two are turned on at any one time so I don’t think my internet system can be overloaded. Thanks again for the replies. |

The TRF software is pretty basic. I have an old iPad Mini from about 2013 running ios 9.3.5 from 2016 (it won't let me upload a later ios) and TRF is about the only thing I can still run on it. Any issue is likely with your device, IMO.
PS, I have newer stuff too

I have the latest iPad mini. Run Tapatalk with no issues. However the issue you’re describing happens to me on IG. I realized I had downloaded the most recent “beta” testing software which has glitches. May that be the issue with you?

Technical probs with looking at forum on ipad
Good to hear Graham. Based on your earlier answers, if this problem reoccurs then try this to clear up the problem:
This list is from easiest step to hardest. 1. Clear your history and cookies. Open Settings app scroll down to > Safari, click it and scroll down again to “Clear History and Website Data”, tap it and tap the Clear button in the pop-up. This should be easiest and will solve interaction issues with the forum that may be due to iPad Safari browser itself. 2. Reset your Network Settings. Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, and cellular settings, (if your iPad is so configured). This should resolve conflict issues with your iPads network config. 3. Try restarting your iOS device. If steps one and two fail, then a hard restart is last idea I have. Long description below. On newer iPads without a home button, Press and hold either volume button + the top button simultaneously until the power off slider appears. Choose power off. To turn your device back on, press and hold the top button until you see the Apple logo. Let the iPad restart a the screen will go dark once it is finished. On iPads with a home button, Press and hold the top button until the power off slider appears. Drag the slider, then wait for 30 seconds for your device to turn off. To turn your device back on, press and hold the top button until you see the Apple logo. Let the iPad restart a the screen will go dark once it is finished. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
