Everyone wearing masks lately is going to be problematic for CCTV effectiveness. That's for sure. Beef knives are not something everyone would have immediate access to. Possible butcher, slaughterhouse, restaurant kitchen connection? Hopefully these donkeys are caught.

Here in Amsterdam you have a gang named 'Rolex gang'. Many people are getting robbed from their (mostly) Rolex.

My advice is, if you want to go to Amsterdam, do not bring your expensive watch with you. Or bring a fake one and use your krav maga skills to beat the hell out of them.

You don't have to kill them. Just shoot them in the knees. Much more fun to look at.

Unfortunately this is getting all too common..... I’ve found myself wearing my sPeedmaster more often than not, it’s not the end of the world if I lose it plus I can walk straight into an AD and pick a new one up without having to beg to get on a list!

Due to this I am asking my wife to put her expensive jewelry in our safety deposit box until things cool down.
Unfortunately NYC’s problems usually spill over into North Jersey. We’ve stayed away from NYC due to their current “policies” with regards to crime and criminals.

Finally I gave him a look that let him know I knew what he was doing and started off and then stopped short, he almost walked into me. Stood there and made him walk in front of me, he then turned right I went left and that was the last I saw of him.

Was fully expecting to see him or his buddies in the parking lot. But happy to say the walk to the car was uneventful.

But decided that it’s not worth wearing my Rolex’s during the day in public. Over the years I’ve heard of many people getting their watches and jewelry stolen in shopping center parking lots and never thought much about it. I’ve got a different attitude these days.

1. If the guy a member of Rolex Forum, he should learn that only do private selling of luxury items in Police Station.

2. Is is safer to wear vintage Rolex, than brand new hot items?

Unfortunately, I think krav maga might soon be a prerequisite to wear your watch in public.

Cannot understand why anyone would walk around in short sleeves whilst using public transport in busy inner cities wearing YG / RG, pateks, RM, AP or some Rolex.

You could do it 100s of times and be fine but it only takes once.

Take a taxi / cab to the places you need to be.

Otherwise put on something less recognisable like an omega / Tudor

There is no one right answer here. Dirtbags do a risk - reward calculation before choosing a victim. Your behavior and actions determine whether you are worth the risk.

So, some people will be fine and a whole of of people are born victims and won’t be fine.... don’t go into the deep end of the pool if you can’t swim.

Un-fortunately for the victim (he was a watch trader), this was an arrange robbery. He was meeting a buyer for the watch at the train station which turned out to be a facade to get him out with the watch so they could rob him. Meeting at stations to do transactions is common place in HK.

I've previously worn without care in HK from highly sort after, such as a daytona ceramic to PM DD without a care and on the MTR or Bus.

HK is still one of the safest places to wear a nice watch but the 2 watch thefts in the past few days isn't helping it's image.

I think one has to be very careful. Having lived incities in Latin America teaches you to be careful. Here in DC i leave in a nice area and one has to be careful. Walking around by yourself. Some of the the thief’s are in cars/bikes!
