16700 Buying Advice

Hi people

This is my first topic on the forum and waiting your comments about the 16700 i found recently.

The watch is an A serial, with “Swiss only” dial from 1999. It has all the booklets, green tag with serial number, brown cosc seal, all the booklets & papers + Rolex service card belongs to 2020 + period correct green box.

Service consists only mechanical work, no polishing etc. The seller says he is the first owner, didnt use the watch as much.

It looks unpolished to my eyes however would like to get opinions of experts in here.

I can post as many photos if requested.

Looks great for it's age. Does the paper match the SN & his name?

I'm by no means an expert, but I've been looking around for a GMT as well, and this one looks fantastic! What I kind of obsess over are the crown guards; I hate it when they look "rounded." These crown guards look great, very nicely angled! Also I like to compare the chamfers between the crown and case side lugs. I've seen some cases where one chamfer looks nice and sharp and the other side looks like an Omega lyre lug! Chamfers look nice and even here. Beautiful watch. I'm already jealous, haha!

The watch looks great. Based on its age and condition (no scratches) it has probably been polished (at least lightly). Which is a good thing in my opinion.
If the serial number on the service paper matches and you get a fair price than go for it.

If mine were as nice as that I might have held on to it. Looks great although I'm always torn on this model as I like the 16710 a tad more. Congratulations on a superb example!!!

Luckily, it’s summer and the Polish Police is on vacation. They would’ve build a case even on this beautiful crisp watch.

OP, Congrats on this finding!

That is a winner... As long as you are ok with the price- buy it before someone else does

16700 is a superb watch so if you are happy with this one, you might do well just going for it!

Overall in excellent condition, if it’s a fair price go for it.

This "Swiss only" variation of the 16700 with full set in outstanding condition is pushing the high side of a reasonable price at $13,500 USD. However, you'll wait a long time before seeing something like this again and prices may have increased by that time. If you really like it and plan to keep this for a long time then it's worth getting.

Dear Friends
Although the price is a bit on the high side, based on your great comments i decided pulling the triger. When considering the chunky size of today’s GMTs offered by Rolex its a great watch for the money. Thanks for all the support.

Good move!!! I personally don't like the oversized modern Rolex watches. Congratulations!!!
