Tried the RG OF on the other day. Sheesh. SO clean. I love my Rhodium dial 116622 and would never get rid of it but that matte ceramic insert and - wait for it - glidelock clasp on the oysterflex bracelet almost made me tell my own YM to scoot over for a little while

It has automatic movement but you can manually wind it as well on position 1 of the crown

Rotated mine back in this last week... really amazing. I fall in love with it every time I bring it out. Probably the perfect case. So comfortable, elegant. Just perfect. This is such an amazing color combo and dial. Might be the most perfect watch I own. Really like it compared to the super case. If Rolex offers a cool new combo in this model I will probably scoop it up. I like have a couple of color/dial options of my fav watches.

I don't understand the 'scratch magnet' comments, have any of those people actually owned one? it does influence people and nearly put me off buying one originally.
I've never sctached the bezel on any of the three I've owned and worn daily.
The vault in Hatton Garden quote £40/£50 for a sand blast refinish anyway so it's nothing to worry about, much better looking watch in my opinion to the submariner which I have also in many different versions
wasn't that the same place that those old senior geezers robbed over night?

So back to the original question. Most want to get as much as possible for as little as possible. Submariners are cheaper and thus sell better. I don't think they look near as nice. I'd much rather wear the Yachtmaster than any other rotating bezel Rolex.

Take the blue pill, buy the Sub and sleep with the peace of mind you have what everybody else wants. If everyone aspires to owning one, it must be good, right? Stay in the numbing and reassuring beaten path.

Take the red pill, buy the Yacht-Master and step into another dimension, a world of fine connoisseurs who can appreciate the countless subtleties and elegant sophistication of such an exquisite timepiece. Almost no one will understand it but you don't follow the herd. Instead you go your own way, free from those dictating what you should be doing, how you should be thinking. You are your own boss and need nobody's validation and pat on the shoulder. You are at the turning point separating men from boys.

No offence to Sub lovers, it was all a bit tongue in cheek :-). It really is a matter of taste. I'm not a fan of the supercase and own the YM and SD43 instead. It's good to have choice. To each their own as they say.

100% agree and I think this is often overlooked. Case is way better than current sub maxi imho.

I do find not having a luminous bezel pip a bit of a drawback.

Mostly bc it doesn't have the professional status of a sub. Lacks the specs. More of a preppy watch, less "badass". Personally I find them beautiful, but I can see why the sub is the go to and the YM is just kinda forgotten.

I have a feeling in a few years, its going to get the attention it deserves.

Many of my watch friends who aren't into Rolex, casually browse their selection and had no idea the YM 40 Rhodium dial existed, its overshadowed by the website featuring the ClownMaster.

By then, we can all sit back and enjoy when they pay double for it on grey :)

Why is yachtmaster so underrated

YM in rhodium and the chocolate dials are both on my list I hope they stay underrated and these purchases help my relationship with my AD...

Seems to me it is a purposeless spin-off the sub. Looks good, but why is it a thing? YM II, now we are taking some craziness I can get behind.

Most people are one and done and will likely want a Sub or GMT. Or just a Datejust. The Yachtmaster is a bit steep.

Yachtmaster's fans love it dearly of which I happened to be one of and I don't really think the popularity has much to do with the rating.

Fantastic pictures! Almost makes me wish I went for blue rather than rhodium but I am loving my rhodium. Such a great piece. Feels so much more luxurious and comfortable than the Sub on my wrist.

Wow, sharp eye; I never noticed but what difference does it make? Should I throw the watch a way?

I think the blue looks great just too much on my wrist for a daily. I prefer subtle which I get wtih the Rhodium.

Here are some of my recent pictures - I honestly can't say enough positive things about this watch! For me the choice was simple - I just love the appearance and feel of the watch and I buy what I like. All the talk about the name and water resistance is irrelevant to me. I actually prefer it because it is less hyped too.

I own the Rhodium dial and yesterday, I picked up the blue dial one. I, for some reason did not bond with the rhodium dial one. I guess, I like the blue dials and was missing how the blue mesmerizes in direct sunlight. Indoors, it turn into very dark blue and the legibility is great outdoor/indoors.

YM wears like my 5 digit watches. Most comfortable on my wrist and YM adds that unique platinum touch to it.

It's the only 40mm diver in the Rolex catalogue.

I think some rather go with the Sub, but I have been looking for a grey color way piece. Think I found it with the Yachtmaster but need to see it a few more time.

Here is one with an Everest strap looked beautiful. (They provided the photo to me). This is the 40mm.

Not a fan of YM bezel. However, I like the full gold 40mm YM in oysterflex strap.

Looks good! Miami blue rubber from Horus straps is also a nice choice:
