Yes. PCLs should never be on a Sub (JMHO).

I say no, but not because it's specifically a WG Sub. I tried a NATO once on my 14060 and switched back to the bracelet after two days. I'm an oyster bracelet guy all the way.

I'm pleased at all the funny comments on this thread. If I had a WG sub, I'm fairly certain it would be my daily wearer and there's no way I would put it on a strap, the weight of the whole piece is just too nice.

Sure, why not a nato? It is a Sub after all.

I saw many pictures of SubC on natos but I personally do not like the looks. I found most natos look too flimsy on a SubC.

That was my point; if it is just worn as jewelry than "no," but if it is to be used securely then having it on a NATO would provide better security than having it on a bracelet. Why get a dive watch if it isn't going to see some action. Seems like a travesty to me.
And no I won't wear underwear on my head nor will I keep them in my drawer and not wear them because they are too good to use for their intended purpose. |

To quote Larry (Tools): "A NATO, or any other strap can be wiggled back and forth with the friction holding the spring-bar center and collapsing it.. It is more difficult with the older pierced lugs and proper bars, which the 114060 does not have. Many stories of a NATO "saving" their watch are probably because of this action - it is even more likely to happen when wet. When spring bars are used on a bracelet the ends will have to physically shear off and that shear force would be tremendous. When NATO's were issued, they were issued for watches that had welded bars that would never come out. Don't get a NATO because you think it is safer, get it because you like the heritage and the look." |

In my opinion it is just the white gold that is meaningful on the Smurf. Otherwise it is like any other Submariner. Naturally it's original bracelet remains in good condition while wearing it on the Nato.

The Smurf Pops on a NATO
It's a dive watch, bottom line. Band scratches easily. A NATO strap accentuates the BLUE and preserves the metal bracelet. Have fun with it.

Didn’t you signed an agreement with Rolex stating the smurf will always be pair with the original bracelet. Just kidding. With the correct nato, it will be dope! It will be like WG French Marine Nationale kicked up a notch.

I think it can work if you are someone who can pull off a Tom Wolfe-esque “go-to-hell” tailored style.
