Yes it is overrated. Great watch though. Timeless. Functional. But yes it is overrated.

This is what I kind of meant. Overvalued monetarily.

The sub just doesn't do it for me. Super case series models are just too big for my wrist.

Rated correctly. Owned many watches, only watch I always come back to especially with the ceramic. Super case gives the look of a solid wrist presence, while feels comfortable on. Perfect watch.

The sales price nowadays demonstrates it’s highly overrated. Rolex steel was not pricy once upon a time.

The 6-digit models may be overrated in some respects from a functional value.

Certainly those with different dial colors that fetch very high prices. Scarcity drives up those prices well beyond the an LN’s basic functionality (which, BTW, isn’t enhanced by a color IMHO).

If we took the question in a sense of historical perspective, I’d say the 5- digit models were fairly rated in their day. Some still have a fair rating compared to their newer bigger siblings. Just as functional for 99% of owners who splash, snorkel and rec dive.

What are we even talking about? The market decides this, dictates the value. Nothing more or less. Anything else is just an opinion. Hence, rated appropriately. If you go into your AD and see a number of unsold subs, then yes, but you don’t. If you don’t like it, then you won’t agree, but the market disagrees with you.

100%. "Mr. Market" reflects the value, not the opinions of folks on a forum. By some measures, the "value" of a watch is zero, since one can just glance at their phone to tell the time/date etc.

No shit. Exactly.

It’s worth exactly what people are willing to pay.

Once it's discontinued (to whatever extent that's being claimed), their will certainly be an influx of interest
