Two watch collection

I have a very modest two watch collection (Submariner ND and BB58 Blue). I haven’t worn the Sub much since getting the BB58. I’m thinking about selling it for a Rolex with a date (Datejust 41, etc) for some variety. My wife says I don’t need two no date dive watches. Thoughts? Am I crazy?

I would absolutely do that. Datejust is an amazing daily watch to compliment the BB58

I agree with your wife.

I've never been a fan of watches without a date. That is one complication that i need and its useful.

Thanks for the feedback! My AD has a white dial DJ41 that looks absolutely killer in the Florida sunshine. Might slide by there today and pick it up.

Your wife has a fair point. But, I'd probably wait a little longer since the Tudor is a new release and you may still be in the honeymoon phase.
DJ41 is a great piece

I would get a sub date (or a SD43) before I would get a DJ. Just my two cents...

I would keep the Submariner and save for a Datejust.

I brought up the point about getting a Sub date and was quickly told by my wife that I have a dive watch problem and need more variety in my life.

Yup, time to expand your 2 watch collection to a 3 watch collection

Add something with a white dial in there... exp. 2 polar or DJ silver/white.

I’d never get rid of my ND Sub. I can move the bezel two clicks each morning if I really need a date (which I do when I wear it to the office).

It’s totally up to you, there are people with multiple sub dates or multiple subs and stuff, even the same color

You, one being black and one being blue, it gives you a bit of variety

Also, some people just like divers in general

I think it would be cool to trade the sub for a sub date

Then you would have a little more variety and essentially the same watches that you started with

That being said, the Datejust would pair well with a bb58 too!

Wait till September 1 and see what is released. It could be that your ND will see a value bump based on being discontinued. You can get a DJ at any point you want. Sit tight for a few weeks.

I’m thinking a Sub date might be the best thing to wait for. I have a feeling that it will get the 3235 on 1 September.

Tell that to my wife! Lol. I’ve only had drivers. Breitling Colt Auto, Omega Seamaster 300M, Sub ND, BB58 Blue, etc.

Use the diving bezel to set the date with the minute markers through 31. Now you get to keep both! The BB58 takes strap changes well, so you can throw the variety into the pair that way. Just a thought if you know what you love and it happens to be dive watches!

We are enablers, you are not crazy.

By the way, 2 watches is a pair, 3+ watches make a collection.

I understand where you're coming from, but it will be better to add if possible. The Sub is too iconic.

A good two-watch collection is both simplicity and completeness.

One sport, one dress for me...

(Also: one oyster - one jubilee; one ceramic - one precious metal; both blue; both water resistant; both Rolex for me ... my perfect two-watch combo )

I love my 114060 and would never sell it. If I were you I'd sell the BB58 and put it towards a Rolex with a date.

I'm a Sub fan, so I'd keep that. And just wait to add a DJ41 at some point. I also have the BB58 blue. To me, it's different enough from a Sub.

In all the years I can't believe I have never thought of this. I think it's absolutely brilliant. I feel like I just converted all my no-date dive watches into watches w/date!

I thought the same thing. I ended up loving my BB58 way more than I thought I would. Something about the shape of the case, how thin it is, and how it sits on my wrist. I always end up grabbing the BB58 in the morning before heading out.
