Does anyone have opinion on whether to get the new 126622 from ad or older model 116622 from used market in new condition?

I'm assuming the only difference between the two is the movement? If so, I would get the 116622 if there is a significant price difference between the two.

Have heard the new movement could be a bit harder to work on and that parts would need to be replaced rather than fixed in some cases

I wonder if AD’s can get the older model from Rolex stock they have not sold out of, or if they have already sent out all they have to the AD’s before they release new versions.

FWIW, I recently purchased an 116622 and I'm happy with it. Generally speaking most people like the longer reserve that the new movement has; the old one works quite well and with a number of watches the difference in reserve means little to me. They are both beautiful. Below are a few pictures to brighten up the thread!!!

If the price is the same, get the newer one.

I have heard that the lugs on the 126622 are slightly different (sharper) and the connection for the bracelet has changed - have never seen good pic of differences if true

I don't think it matters much. I recently bought the newer model. Not much difference between it and the (slightly) older model aside from the significantly longer power reserve which you may or may not care about. This was for my wife and she will sometimes go a day or two without wearing it but essentially never 3 days so I thought it was a nice feature personally. There also wasn't really much, if any, price difference between the two models for watches in the same condition. I actually got a nearly new but preowned 126662 from a TS for a bit of a discount off msrp+tax.

There is a Rolex crown in between “Swiss” and “Made” on the newer one. Think it may be etched into the crystal.

I got my 126622 from AD last month and price wise there was no difference between buying a used 116622 or new from AD. I opted for new but that may depend on where you are. Can’t comment on pcls, fine so far.

Guess AD’s would probably not carry the 116622 anymore then?

I would have a hard time justifying going for the 116622 if the 126622 is available at the same price. To me the only reason for picking the 116622 would be a significant price difference.
I say this despite the fact the early 3235s showed accuracy problems (slower than -2 s/d) due to poor lubrication of the pinion of the seconds hand, if I'm not wrong. But this has been corrected. There is in fact a benefit to 3 days power reserve even if you're not fully using those 3 days. The accuracy tends to drop dramaticaly in the last 24h when not worn. So 3 days PR effecively gives you one extra day of good accuracy compared to 2 days PR, the second day to be exact, the last day being poor in both cases. In other words, the 3235 gives you 2 days of good accuracy when not worn versus only one day in the 3135. This is based on my own observation BTW. I didn't use a timegrapher, only a tracking app. |

All things equal, I would go for the newer one.

I eould say the newer 126622 is at least a $1,000 more than the 116622 preowned.
