Do you think contemporary Rolex is worth the price?

I feel like the price of modern rolexes is kind of ridiculous. I mean yeah they’re good quality watches but I feel like the prices are much higher than they should be, especially if you look at what you can get from other brands at a similar price. I just feel like they’re not great value (ceramic Sub in particular). I don’t know. I’ve never owned one or had much experience with them so I’d like some other people’s perspectives.

Sounds like the brand isn't for you and you should go enjoy the other brands at similar prices. My $.02.

And no...I don't agree.

"Worth" is a completely subjective term.

Is it "worth" it to you? That is the only question.

Try zenith or jlc. You’ll find them more reasonable

I'm going to say something and get flamed. Barring a rapture event I think the current prices of ALL rolex (maybe not smaller lady sizes) will double over the next ten years. So no I think it is the exact opposite.

You say you've never owned one...Haven't had much experience with the brand... Yet you offer up an opinion like that...

I think that you misunderstand value.

Value is not only what you get for your money, it is what you will retain over time.

Yes, a Tag (for example) is a watch that cost half as much as a Rolex, but next year that Tag will be worth half again as much. A Rolex may very well be worth more than was initially paid.

Also, a Rolex can be rebuilt after a decade, to almost new condition and still be of value. Very few other watches can make such a claim.
