Should I buy this watch ?
1962 1501 date.
I love the patina. Not sure how it will look as it keeps aging. Not too sure about the 34mm. The people selling have an amazing reputation so I’m not worried about the watch itself. They are asking 2250 USD including the taxes, nude. Thoughts ? |

Seems like you're unsure about a couple of things, there.

If you like the watch, get it.
The dial appears to be typical of paint fading, showing the brass through. The little bit else that I see seems to be pretty decent.

Even 2250 isnt a bad deal. That patina isnt from water damage so you are good there

It’s a good deal, you won’t lose money.
Only thing is be sure to have some warranty on the movement, or have it serviced. if it was serviced too long ago you could get some additional costs soon. |

34 mm is awesome, but that dial is toast for me. However, some might like its uniqueness.

Gotta agree. Even if it’s the brass dial plate showing through, brought on by...actually, why/how DOES that happen?...rather than water damage, it’s still a pretty aggressively damaged dial. But, if you love it, that’s all that matters. My only worry would be selling it down the road, if that’s something worth considering.

When you say “nude”, is that supposed to mean without the bracelet? If so, then the price seems high for a watch with such a badly damaged dial. It’s a no for me.

It’s small and the dial is ruined. If you like small watches with ruined dials this is the piece for you.

Watch comes with a bracelet, thats good.
34mm is good. Dial is toast! I would not pay 2.1k for it. Its more of a project: replacement dial and probably a service. What the service history, if any?

Is this the one that a seller stated was a Milky Way dial and special bezel?
I realize it’s names that some sellers think will fetch a higher price, but a mildew ridden dial is just that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I wouldn't. For a bit more money you could find a 160x in better shape, and those are far more wearable at 36mm. I hardly ever wear my 34mm 6694, but the 1803/9 I've got on today looks perfect.

I think the patina looks cool, however I'd prefer to pay $2k or less.

I like patina, but have to agree with some others here, price seems too high and the dial looks rough. As for the size, that's all pretty subjective. I used to wear my 34mm AK often, and as a result the size never felt odd to me, but once I started wearing larger pieces(38mm-42) it now feels a bit small when I do wear it.

In my research, this is the only "milky way" dial, hehe. Definitely just a catchy name. |

I've watched the 6694s head into $2K+ territory recently. If you compare this deal to a great or really great 6694, it seems like a better deal than the consensus here. Consider: automatic, chronometer-grade movement, with the 34mm case. Yeah, the dial, but dials for this are not expensive and not rare, if you want to go a whole different direction in the future. I'm going to disagree, most respectfully, with the others and say it's not that bad a deal BUT do take a look at 6694s, because you can still find them sometimes in the $1600-1800 range and they wear quite similarly, but must be wound daily. My biggest criticism about this particular 1501 is the BEZEL: I personally would want much more crisp in such a relatively recent watch. I sold a silver dial 1501 with similar configuration for $2800 in 2019, it looked showroom.

The bracelet makes this worth it. 34mm on an oyster has great wrist presence. I'd buy it if the movement was recently serviced.

I am usually drawn to unusual looking dials but I personally wouldn’t want to wear this one. It looks ruined.
