Would you source a new dial or leave it alone?
I have this 1984 15000 ref 8.7mil serial Date and have been getting it back up to speed since first buying it. I was able to source a correct crystal (replacement acrylic was on when purchased) as well as a correct crown as previous one only had about 1/4 of a thread catching on the tube. It's not a mint watch by any means but relatively well preserved, matching bracelet code still tight, lugs look OK, 3035 movement looks lovely and runs without fault. All in all it's a joy to wear.
It looks like at some point in its live some moisture may have found its way in (despite lack of oxidation on movement) and so the dial has a light yellow tin which is stronger on the edges, as well as a coupld of 'burned out' lume plots. This is difficult to capture in a photograph but I think it shows up a bit below. My question is, should I try to source a fresher -DATE- T SWISS T dial or leave it alone? |

If you can find an original dial for this model in better condition (while this one is not bad at all), why not? But don't spend too much doing so...

Personal choice.
Having a pristine, era correct, watch is a call that many of us have issues ignoring. Original with all the warts is a collector piece for a glass case, not for the wrist.

I'd leave it alone personally.

I would fix it. Once right, it will only need service in the future.
