1680 bracelet replacement
Just got my first 1680 yesterday! The bracelet is obviously a little worn, but the one from my f serial 16610 does not seem to fit. I would like to have a sturdier bracelet, as this will be my new daily driver. Eric Martin in AZ told me that the replacement is the same b/c rolex discontinued the reference appropriate model for the 1680. Any help?
Thanks Chad |

You must get the appropriate bracelet for the model!

Hi Chad,
Congrats on the 1680!! It's my favorite diver. The proper replacement bracelet for your watch is the 93150 with 580 endlinks. What your AD is saying is correct the 1680 was discontinued with the advent of the 16800(circa 1980 or so). The 93150 is the current bracelet used on the 14060M. Depending on when your 1680 was made the proper orginal bracelet could have been a 9315 folded with 280s or 380s. IF this bracelet is on the watch KEEP it! Those things are hard to find and command some $$$. Post a pic of your 1680 when you can! About what year is it? |

The bracelet from your 16610 would have solid end-links. You need to use the folded end links.
I think the correct bracelet would is stamped 93150 for your 1680. That is the current replacement bracelet for the 1680 and has stronger more durable links than the original folded link bracelet. |

thanks
Thanks for the advice...I will try to get some pics on soon. I followed this watch for 5 years and probably paid to much, but I love it. It is a 1971-72, from what I can ascertain. Serial is 34088xx. Mike's post with his 1680s made it impossible for me to decline this purchase. I would like to talk to you sometime ( I will post pics first) about the decision to re-lume etc. Is anybody familiar with Eric Martin in Sedona, AZ. He has incredible references and will ship genuine parts...He quoted me 750.00 on replacement bracelet. Is that about right? I have no intention of sending this thing to Rolex, my financial and emotional investment is too great!

A 3.4 mil. ser. no. puts you in the land of RED! If it is Don't re-lume! That would impact the value. Post a pick when you can and let's see what we've got. |

Hello there Chad
Mike and Steve are right regarding the replacement bracelet. I bought a new one (93150) from Rolex for my 1680 last year for around A$1,000. If you are going to get a new one, please take the old one off first and only take in the watch head. Otherwise Rolex will demand you surrender the old bracelet, and as mentioned above, they are quite valuable and hard to get. Good luck. John. |
