OK, I have to admit, that's the best-looking "hex nut" I've ever seen. Clearly a step above your average sheet metal fastener!!!!

I have this feeling in my gut that I wouldn't be happy giving up the AP - I'll try to see how I can navigate keeping the AP and then adding the GMT.

Hey, if the wife doesn't like the idea of you putting down more cash on a watch, then you're better off just coming here and looking at photos. Owning a gold watch isn't going to make you happier than having a harmonious home.

I wouldn't sell the AP to make it easier to swallow. APs are very special watches. Give it time and further consideration. Perhaps your better half will be happier if you get the GMT later to signify a certain milestone in your life.

That sounds like a plan. While I wouldn't hesitate to flip the AP for a GMT, you obviously know what will make you happy-and that's what counts.

I have been told over and over no advance notice on the increase and all current inventory is marked higher. Save for the GMY.

As it hasn't been said amazingly by one of our most esteemed members already I'll say it - buy both! I got a RG AP and plan to get the GMTc YG next year.

Hard to go wrong but...

I can't speak highly enough about the AP. Even in stainless it's a dream to wear on the wrist (I chose the 15202 Ultra Thin). The GMT is certainly impressive and fun to wear however I personally like that watch in steel over gold. In gold the AP is amazing but for Rolex I more prefer something like the DD as it feels like the quintessential gold watch IMHO. You certainly won't be disappointed by any of the watches mentioned as they all are at the top of their game.

I vote patient saving and acquiring the YG GMT. In my opinion the YG GMT is the best YG piece Rolex makes. It's sporty but yet very elegant like you had said.

Wow...either your tongue is planted firmly in your cheek, or that was a very short-lived and unsatisfactory ownership experience!
