IMVHO, I think its because rolex is enjoying its move from what they used to be 'tool watches' to 'luxury watches'. They won't bring a classic back (bracelet is cheap and rattly like the 9315, small cases, etc) because it would ruin their current 'luxury' image. That being said, I always see rolex as tool watches and I love vintage rolexes. Long live classics
Here is a shot of my 114060 vs 5513. You can see the contrast. |

We are definitely -ALSO- about ROLEX watches that came from the era of BOZO the CLOWN, ironically

I would be happier if Rolex just brought back lug holes.

From your language and tone I didn't even have to see your details to know you were new here. A far more predictable "crush freedom of speech" thread than a bring back a Rolex you like one. Now this is really tiresome.

New and stirring the pot as it were to no good avail. Many are "vintage" here at TRF (me included), enough said...

Why would anyone try to curb any discussion on Rolex watches?

That would be great if we had material scientists here at trf that could assess whether this is possible or how far fetched it would be. Has this been discussed before?
Totally worth talking about imho |

I think of course everyone is entitled to their own view, enjoying something that is well made is a pleasure, watches, cars in fact as I said anything well made.

Few people nowadays use rolex for their purpose. In the eyes of rolex having blingy or more luxurious looking feeling watches is better. They make it so. Vintage ones are not like but they arr sportier. Modern rolexs tho can still be functional.

The classics are just that classics. I wish Tudor would bring back some of theirs.

As a novice at this, I like the discussions about vintage watches. Learning is something that makes this fun for me. You don't have to read beyond the intro to see if the subject is interesting to you. Not a terrible inconvenience in my way of thinking.

I have an appreciation for both modern and vintage and don't mind Rolex combining the two, for example a GMTIIC with a pepsi dial would be just fine with me.

Many of you are misunderstanding me. Classics are great because there Classics. I just see no need to bring them back.
I see post after post saying "bring back this" bring back that"! Here's my post saying leave them dead. So where your classic in good health and enjoy.

I admire Rolex for not plundering their past and also for not going down the 'limited edition' route
But they do reference past models with features such as the orange hand of the Exp II 42mm and lightning bolt hand of the modern Milgauss Tudor have the Heritage line for those seeking more nostalgia Perhaps Rolex will eventually introduce a red/blue or black/red ceramic bezel, but I'm glad they have (first) brought out a black/blue Imho, not replicating the classics helps keep them ...well... classic!

I think if they brought back the Pepsi or Coke it would be just an homage to past watches, not reliving the past watches. I think the ceramic bezel makes the 2 different enough and Rolex would sell tons of them.
Regardless, I'd still rather have a 16710 and change up the inserts myself. The ability to do that is what makes the 2 different enough to me, and IMHO the 16710 preferable. |

Is that really an opinion worth mentioning on a Rolex discussion board? Perhaps -- next time, just don't click on the thread discussing said topics.
