Rare 60s-70s Rolex Help Needed

I am in the process of inheriting a pair of Rolex's from my Grandad.

I know they are from either 1960s or 1970s era.

I need help identifying them. I would also like to know a rough valuation if possible. I am currently in Pakistan, taking them to a rolex specialist here isnt recommended. Way too many fraudsters.

Any help would be appreciated. My dad told me one of them should be gold and the other platinum however i am not 100% sure nor do i know how to validate this.

Thanks

Really? Ouch. I was almost certain they were real. He was a very wealthy man i doubt he would have purchased a fake one. Possibly someone in the family switched it. My gut feeling is tells me they are real.

Found a link for the silver one. Looks identical to this. Apparently only a 1000 were ever made.

Is it worth opening the rear casing off top check?
I am devistated. First one son sold his ferreari 250 lusso now theyve hussled us out of this. One can only laugh about it now.

I totally forgot about those, my apologies.

Do they have the serial number on the side of the case?

If they indeed are the 5100 Beta-21 then you have something very rare.

The movement should look like this.

I believe they are Ref 5100.
Short lived run with Swiss industries first quartz movement, beta 21. Pretty rare.
I doubt the bling on the 2nd watch is original.
Shared movement with Bulova, Omega and Patek among others.
Made 1971, 72?

Some for sale on chrono 24.
If indeed platinum and not white gold, wow, never heard of that.

I would not try and pry it off. May cause damage.
Just read a quick story, only made 18k supposedly.
But white gold would be pretty rare as well.

Sorry, didn't read far enough down.
I see that you did more research than the members of this forum.
GOOD FOR YOU.
I have never seen a fake Ref 5100, so highly doubt that this is one.
The should be pretty heavy, 150-180 grams each I would guess. As you mentioned, they should at least be 18k gold.
I think this type of watch, is not faked because many people assume that it is a fake to begin with, as shown on this post.
To make a good fake would take quite a bit of gold as well.

Wow! Both are genuine 5100s. Very very rare especially the white gold version (don't think these were made in Platinum, however I could be wrong). Appear to be factory set dials, bracelet I agree with Milgauss88, looks to be set by someone other than Rolex.

Yay, Thank you so much guys especially MILGAUSS88. Really do appreciate the help. That is correct they are very very heavy, I dont think they have been worn for the last 20-30 years. Apparently my uncle has their original box.

I have the pic of the rear as well. Which i am attaching. They have some kind of number on the side in fancy numerals.

Its probably too late now as his favourite watch had some how disappeared a few years ago, The watch can be seem on his hand in some pics with diamonds all over and a white dial. I have been trying to hunt that down unfortunately ive been told one of the family members took it :/..

I will add the picture once i get hold of it.

Again many thanks :)

To be honest, way better pictures need to be taken. Caseback, crown, each side, clasp, end links, and band. Don't worry about the movement, have that checked by a professional. Nothing concrete can be made from those photos.

None of those dials match up to anything I've found. Not saying they aren't legit, but I'm not seeing those dials. Swiss made is between the 6 oclock stick, not at the bottom.

Well, I may or may not be wrong. Let's see what else is produced by the OP to prove authenticity.

One can only hope for the best.

The old man had a really good taste. I feel the pain every time i look back.
The Guy also owned a 1963 ferrari 250gt lusso (Recently sold is the states) my clown arse of an uncle swallowed that , the very reason why i am almost certain he wouldn't own a cheap arse watch.

If they're precious metal, there will be some hallmarks on the case somewhere. Clear photos of those would help determine what you have.

https://www.google.com/search?q=role...0QnEiIVSmZ9JM:

They're stick dials buddy that's why. Diamond dials are less busy with the minute marker printing/different dial layout.

PS I stand corrected. This watch was produced in platinum, but only one was apparently made. 900 in YG and the other 99 in WG.

OP I'd seriously contact the big auction houses regarding these if you're looking to sell. Phillips, Christies etc. The WG one below went for nearly 59,000 Swiss Francs.
