Newbie here, and hello to all. The Exp is the watch I hope to get one day. Question - how long does the lume last when charged?

Me too!

Got mine just over a month ago and it’s been a perfect experience from purchase. Runs great, just how I like it and I love the fit and look.

I’m not a collector, any Rolex is a big purchase for me, I had a Sub and I had a white OP41 which I sold to fund this....no regrets on giving up either, this is the one for me, it’s my end game watch. Looking forward to wearing this one for a long time to come.

Very cool. Can you post more pictures of this setup with the green/white strap? Where did you buy that?

The straps are from Erika's Originals (erikasoriginals.com). The green one is the "Original MN Strap" model. You can choose the colour of the centerline stitching. Mine looks white, but is actually "lumed", so you get some decent glow at night.

I've attached a couple more photos. I've got it on the multicolour (Swick) strap at the moment, so I don't have many photos on the green strap right now.

Here's one more option. I tried my EO "Vintage" strap from my Pelagos LHD on the Explorer. It is a tad wide at 22mm vs. 20mm, but other than that the look seems pretty good.

Hi all,

I recently purchased a Rolex Explorer I 14270 from 1996. I‘m very happy with the condition of the watch but I suspect that the crystal was replaced. I think the correct crystal for the 14270 would be the 25-295. I checked several pictures of authentic crystals on a 14270 and the „cut“ of the edge of the crystal is different to the one on my watch (pictures of my watch attached).

Do you think that the crystal on my watch is authentic but just a different reference? Or is it a non-Rolex crystal? There is - as it should be for a watch of this reference - no laser crown in the glass.

Furthermore, if I would send the watch to Rolex for a service with the request to replace the crystal, would Rolex mount an authentic 25-295 or a more recent glass with a laser crown (which I would not prefer)?

I hope you can help me!

Thanks,
eweb

Hi,
The cut on the crystal of the 1991 Explorer 14270 that I own is slightly different. I think Rolex will mount the glass that they have and will not be specific to install a period correct part. I think it is likely that they will install a crystal with the laser engraved crown and it is likely that it will not have the 'S' engraved within the crown. They discontinued this practice for the replacement crystals.

I can call the local AD service center and ask.

I am curious since your 14270 is from 1996 do you have a grainy texture of the dial
