The new 3285 movement is an upgrade over the 3186. The better power reserve is testimony to this.

LOL!

People on TRF are trying to manipulate the BLNR market again.

Happened in December too when they said it would be discontinued.

When someone makes a post like this, it’s likely that they have one for sale, and trying to maximize the return.

I am supposed to buy one just because the price might rise? But I didn't want one a year ago or last week and still don't.

They should rename it the Rolex 16710FOMO.

While I agree that 15K is def too much... Especially one with stickers (unless not planned to be worn).

For those of you who are saying to just buy the "updated" watch for retail, how long do you suppose that feat is going to take to be accomplished? Got one for sale today? ;)

After all, there are waitlists for the old one already; plus Rolex probably wont be shipping the new models for a bit (3-6 months?). And what will the gray market price be on the new upgraded ones? They will likely be in just as short supply for a while as the older model. Assuming you could get one at retail.

To the OP, I don't suggest buying one anywhere near that price; but if you look you can probably find one under 15K USD, which is a heck of a lot better than in pounds.

Unlike some of the others who will make themselves known, I have now issue with how folks spend their own hard earned nor do I get rattled by people who “overpay” for stuff that is ludicrously overpriced even at retail.

However, your mate paid a £3k premium for a watch with stickers, which is an interesting choice assuming he plans to wear it.
£3k premium?

He paid more than double list that's a bit more than a 3k premium.

3k premium for a watch with stickers is what I wrote.

He could’ve bought a one year old example without stickers and lightly worn for £12k on WF at the time. I’ve no issue with people paying going rate for this kind of stuff. Paying more for a stickered watch if you’re going to immediately take them off does seem a bit of a waste though.

I have a November 2018 BLNR which I bought for retail price. It's still stickered with the warranty card included. I bought it to wear but I haven't got around to it yet for various reasons. I asked watchfinder for a valuation in January and they offered £8,800'ish for it, today just to see if things really have altered a lot I got another valuation, they have offered £11,000 - £11,500 for it.

I will be keeping it to wear though now the nice weather and holiday days out are almost here!

Good info.

There will be folk who will argue that the asking prices going up are simply a case of resellers testing the market and fishing for suckers. No way would WF be selling your watch for much less than £14k with that offer price.

Funny post. Straight speculation drives a segment of the market and if you want to play then go for it. I will wait and play the long game. The bubble will burst and I can't wait for the complaining to start here on TRF on how much money people will lose on a sale or trade. A lot we will never hear from because they are not watch enthusiasts just playing where it is hot. I will also be a buyer for watches I want once the market corrects. And it will correct. The true speculation is on when and how much.

There is more to the new movement than just a larger power reserve. It is a better movement all around with a improved rotor using bearings. That addressed a well known weakness in the older movements.

It takes a couple of minutes in my lunch hour at work to get a watchfinder quote. I work hands on with cars daily so I'm not wearing it at work and tbh I wouldn't want to wear it through town when I have been drinking. I just wear them for nice days out or meals etc so think what you like. I don't have so much money that I'm not interested in the value of what I own, whether that be my house, my guitars or my watches.

It was this thread that prompted me to get a second quote today just to see if the market is full of chancers upping the price since Basel or if the grey market sellers that are making a living out of it will actually pay more when trying to source stock.

The fact that asking prices on Chrono have gone up significantly since the announcement, the fact that David SW pulled his BLNRs, the fact that Bob's watches is sold out of BLNRs as of yesterday supports your post.

It stands to reason since the earlier reference of the BLNR like other earlier professional Rolex references command higher prices.

Does someone have more information to confirm this? I want a Batman on an Oyster not Jubilee. If we can swap the bracelet, at least give me another chance to buy one at msrp with the an oyster.

People keep saying this. I put my name down for a ceramic Daytona when they were released and was not prepared to the £4000 over list that the greys were asking at the time. I wish I had done now because they are starting to creep towards 10,000 over list and it’s been out 3 years now. People were predicting a bubble burst on these 3 years ago but the opposite has happened.

Agree.
These types of threads are just sad.
I have a BLNR from 2017. The new just announced is better in every way, including the jubilee. I am looking forward to the upgrade.

“Good buy” is highly subjective. I personally don’t consider $6k above retail a “good buy” for something that isn’t even a limited edition item.
