When i picked mine up last week, the boutique didn't say anything about the blue being discontinued. Probably just low on stock as these seem to have gotten a boost in popularity recently and their supply chain most likely would have been impacted by covid

In my experience, any time I special ordered a watch the deals are nearly nonexistent for SS popular watches. The only special order discount I ever received was for my Breguet 5547 (though that may be more because it is a PM piece).

Makes no sense to return a deposit if supply is just low tho. I think the SA would mention that and give you an option to take it back or to wait.

This seems to make a lot more sense. While I agree with the post above that it’s strange the deposit was returned, it’s hard to imagine VC discontinuing what’s likely the most in-demand color in the lineup. This gen hasn’t been around THAT long...

I read somewhere that the overseas blue dial is the same technique as the fp journe chronometre bleu, which has shot up in value recently as the blue is so hard to produce thus only available in extremely limited quantities as there's quite a lot of scrappage in manufacturing

Thanks and good luck! Seems from other posts that the situation varies by location - hopefully was just bad luck for me and yours will be with you soon!

A week apart from me, they must be able to still get them fairly easily. Did they send you away with a big bag of goodies too?

The strap is very comfortable!

Yes, the boutique were great. They have me a bottle of champagne, a beach towel (as I mentioned going to the park for lunch) and a travel pouch

I purchased mine from Qatar last year while passing through on vacation, with a modest discount to boot.

Thanks! Beverly Hills isn't too far... I might have to take a trip and visit an AD.

Haha! For that spend, you would think they roll out the red carpet and throw in a nice holiday for two package.

I've been wearing my blue Overseas virtually every day in the last couple of months, and can't say enough good things about it. The simplicity of the dial lay-out and the depth and color of the blue is really insane, not to mention the stunning movement you can see through the case back. I love the couple of Rolexes I have, especially the vintage ones, but this VC is in a different universe of horology.

I've said this before, but guys who have wrists under 7 inches can definitely rock this watch. My wrist is 6.75 and have have no issues at all. Perhaps closer to 6 inches might get a little tricky, and I found the bigger and thicker chronograph version right on the edge of being too big for me. But the three-hand fits perfectly, for what I like, anyway.

That looks great man. And yes, I randomly tried it even though I thought it would be too big.

On the discontinued issue/rumour there seems like there is a change albeit not looking like a discontinuation. A friend went in to put in a deposit and was told that they weren’t accepting deposits on the simple blue dial any more. I would think a supply glut, can’t imagine a demand issue in these uncertain times.

It’s hard to imagine a supply glut as well. At least a few months ago many ADs were quoting a wait time of several months

Thanks! Unlikely there's a supply glut, especially not on the blue dial, but with any VC really. They make so few watches to begin with, way less than any other major brand.

My guess is that they ran out of the blue-dial version for now. Doubt that means they're discontinued, although they did discontinue the brown-dial version, so who knows.

I'd bet they just need to catch up with demand because manufacturing was interrupted during the pandemic. I was told by a saleswoman last year at the NYC boutique that the dial on the blue version is made using a unique lacquer technique. Maybe it takes more time to make than the other versions.

I was also told they would not put me on a waitlist for a blue dial from the Vegas boutique.

Just for the 3 hander, or all models? I’ve got the blue chrono on order...

I think Swish pretty much nails it and apologies for the confusion. I meant to say ‘not’ a supply glut and more a demand issue. I can’t seem to find the not in it lol.
But yea, like swish said a need to catch up to supply after closure and a lot less produced. May also be a dial colour issue though I had no idea FP Journe is a part of that equation. Interesting take. There were rumours that the Chr Bleu was being talked up all around and now we see the follow through of that with crazy premiums.
. I am being reassured that my VC will definitely come...fingers crossed.

Been told by the boutique that the blue dial is still in production. AD is perhaps not getting the supply they need.

Absolutely not man and thank you. Just loving the feel and look. I thought it will always stay on the bracelet. Put on the rubber strap as a test and haven’t taken it off since.

Does it make sense to pick this up at retail? Or do they go for considerably cheaper on the grey market?
