How to clean your Rolex... without scratching it?
I'd like to think that there are many who own Rolexes and wear them for pleasure ---but not who-cares-if-it-gets-banged-up recreation---that are interested in being able to clean their watch after a sweaty day on the wrist without adding new scratches to it.
Make no mistake: if you're wearing your watch around, making certain with the most retentive of retentiveness that it never touches another hard surface or bangs into a wall, and you tuck it in to a watch display case at the end of the day with the greatest of care... it's entirely unavoidable for a where-the-heck-did-that-come-from hairline to pop up eventually. (Then 10 more pop up over time and you feel liberated.) But unnecessarily self-inflicted scratches are another story: I keep hearing "soft toothbrush, soap and warm water" is how to clean a Rolex, but the idea of taking even the softest toothbrush to a polished SS case strikes me as a recipe for a perfectly clean watch with self-inflicted scratches everywhere minutes later. Is there something I'm missing here? Is there a best way to give your Rolex a mild cleaning without adding more scratches to it? |

I use Veraet Wrist Clean with their brush. A small investment on such expensive watches, but it's also left my watches squeaky clean.

Use this.
https://www.wristclean.com/collectio...ft-watch-brush I have the whole Wrist Clean setup and it works awesome. A good majority of members here use their products. Most of the time, you don’t need to use the brush unless your watch is very dirty. I hardly ever need to use a brush on mine. A liberal spray down of the wrist clean solution, rub with my fingers, and a thorough rinse does the job well for me. Their drying towel is very soft too. |

The majority use soap I'd bet. Liquid soap in those press dispensers. Rinse any possible gritty stuff away first then have at it with the soap and nylon bristle toothbrush, which is softer than any material used in Rolexes. I do this often and no scratches on my watches.

Same here. I could have sworn the brush scratched the steel PCL’s but I’m also assuming I’m going mad to even consider that a possibility? Perhaps it was just that it gave it such a good clean that I noticed them!

How to clean your Rolex... without scratching it?
Has to be this one from the dollar tree. Zero steel PCLs scratches after years. Gold is another story. Just use soapy hands with gold. Just don't push hard! Almost anything can scratch polished steel if you push hard enough.

Gold is harder than nylon. Never had a problem. Wash often to prevent any buildup of abrasives.

Rinse off with water and then dry with a polishing cloth. Seems to do the trick just fine.

All jokes aside, I also use a baby tooth brush, and dawn wish soap.
I do feel like a tooth brush may scratch polished center links on a two tone watch though But on my steel watches I haven’t noticed a scratch. Not even on the high polished case side of the submariner date. But do it at your own will! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

For my 126613, I discussed my strategy with RSC Geneva watchmaker. I take soap and dilute it in my hands, then use my fingers to clean the watch. I rinse under water then air dry it with my hair blower. That way nothing touches it.
It’s full of light scratches on the PLC, but just wearing this and having a sleeve will create this. However I minimize the friction on it and it comes nice and clean. |

I use a brush made from the finest hairs of the softest animal only found by yodling hot chocolate drinking, pigtailed Swiss Women from a tiny village nestled in the southern region of the Alps. This particular animal sheds its fur once every 10 years and only if the sun is in perfect planetary alignment.
These brushes are only available to a few select clientele that have met the requisite purchase history and even then that doesn't guarantee you a spot on 'the list'. So that being said you might simply try soap, water, your hands and a towel when finished. Happy Monday. |

My watch would get pretty dirty. Warm soapy water and a rinse while washing my hands worked well enough. For a deep clean on the bracelet I would remove it and drop it in an ultrasonic cleaner.

The Wrist Clean brush seems softer than a baby toothbrush to me.
