Dial replacement on 15400

Hi everyone,
New to the watch world. I have recently taken interest in a watch.. it was a royal oak 15400, and was originally a black dial. The previous owner had sent it to a AP authorized service dealer to have the dial switched out from black to blue. Is there any cause for concern over here? From what i've read it's not too common, or even at all, that they switch to blue dials from white or black dials, as they are 'boutique' or special editions.

The seller has sent me the invoice/service report outlining that they did do a dial swap from black to blue and I contacted the service dealer as well in order to confirm that the report is authentic and it was.

I'm just a little worried because of what i've read. I just want to make sure that it's legitimate.
The store I am buying from is very reputable and have been in the business for a very long time. Also, previous owner had apparently paid significant sum for them to switch it out.

I appreciate your help!
I've attached a picture of the watch as well

Don't know much about it. But assume since it's no longer as it left the factory the value is decreased somewhat. And I would be suspicious of AP agreeing to change the dial.

Not super common, but nothing to be concerned about if the paper trail checks out.

There are members here who have had dials swapped numerous times via official APSC and it's 100% legit.

Here you go. Pictures with white background taken off their website. It's the same watch. Previous owner got into contact with me as well.

Feeling more confident about it now. Thanks to everyone who responded.

AP does do it, its a bit more rare for them to agree to change a dial to a boutique only dial though but i have heard of it. Other dials its no issue.

The paperwork won't match the new dial, but with supporting documentation from APSC it shouldn't be a big deal.

Yep, no worries. I've seen threads where people got AP dial swaps, especially the black and white dials. My understanding is that they nixed blue dial swaps recently, but this probably came in before the lockdown.

The APSC in Ottawa has done dial swaps on a number of occasions on 15400 according to my knowledge, so you should be fine.

On the other hand... I wouldn't deal with the guys who have this watch if they were the last dealer on the planet (assuming I'm correct and their name begins with a "V"). There's a Canadian TS with one at a better price.

I would rather be forced into buying jewelry from you-know-who than this grey dealer in question.

Seriously, this shop "V" is all barred up, the owner less than savoury (and that's a very generous and sanitized characterization), and their prices are ridiculous. The atmosphere is very much like a pawn shop.

If you have the invoice/service details directly from AP showing the swap was done - then no need to be concern for authenticity. Not sure what this will do for value. Can you share the invoice picture of what was done?

Got the same vibe a bit.. but left a deposit on the watch already. Went in judged by reviews from google and other websites. Was not aware of this forum at the time.

Thanks to everyone for helping me confirm authenticity. Appreciate it.

In terms of value, I don't it is affected by much as long as the work was completed by the APSC and not a third party. As well, the original dial should be in mint shape/stored well when it was removed. I do assume it comes with the original dial? If it didn't, the purist including myself would value it less (I'm a sucker for originality).

It's really no different than changing to a strap (although it involves a lot more work). Just make sure its well documented and procedures were done professionally.

*PS, it probably won't add value like a true boutique watch though. I would value it the same as a black/silver.

Very interesting that they would change a black or silver dial to a "boutique exclusive" dial. If you don't mind sharing, what is the date on the service paperwork? What was the cost?

Date on the paperwork was July 17 2017. Was done by APSC located in Ottawa Canada. Cost was approx 1500 CAD. Service center keeps original dial. Was a special request.
