Repost in vintage with much better and closer pics of the dial.
I do not think the bezel or 24h hand are right.
Case is soft, but an incredible watch imho, chapter ring dials are killer.
Good luck w it.

Only thing one can say for sure is that it’s been massively over polished over the years. Crown guards practically stick our father than crown and end of spring bar protrudes beyond lug hole.

Can't see on photo, but should be:

'OYSTER - PERPETUAL' not 'OYSTER PERPETUAL'

On a 60/61 1675 gilt chapter.

dial says " Oyster - Perpetual "

Info on 1960 GMT

Reposting this in the proper thread.

Just looking to get some information on this gmt.

Can anyone give me some information about this watch? came from a single owner. watch is running, doesn't have box or papers. any info would be extremely helpful.

serial number dates it to 1960

so far what I have is that the case has been extremely over polished.

someone says hand are service hands.

dial is Gilt

Is this considered a collectable watch? are there ways to fix the above mentioned issues? is it worth fixing?

thanks again

Any 4 Digit Rolex sports model is collectible. Like all collectibles condition is key.

This one has some issues, but they can be corrected.

Cases can be welded up and recut to restore the proper shape, but it’s not cheap and the watch will never be original.

It’s like having a vintage sports car with the original paint vs. a repainted one. It might be worth more, but aside from the hardcore collectors, it’s not going to effect the enjoyment of owning it.

I would just wear it and enjoy it for what it is.

If you are thinking about buying it, don’t pay too dollar though…

That looks like a desirable US made oval link Jubilee bracelet.

Good looking watch, in my book.

I'm not sure about the context of the questions, and I think you will receive different comments depending on whether this is an heirloom vs. a potential purchase. Like most old watches, it has issues, but the dial is appealing, and many of the issues could be addressed to the extent you chose to do so.

All about the price. Later hands and insert are fixable for $4k - case is as most 60 year olds are. Dial 70% value of watch is great. Bracelet is fine and they are only $1k anyway. Mint one full set light use is $40-50k so anything around half that and it's a bargain!

wow! Paulsavidthorp, I really would have never guessed. The watch is was newly acquired. I've had people give values from 2500 - 25k. honestly if it was the latter I would consider letting it go to someone who would appreciate and understand the historic value more than myself. Its hard for me to see that value when I own an 18038, GMT II, and others that I would wear more often. But nonetheless it seems like it would make a great watch to add to my collection.

Thanks again for your opinions and sharing your knowledge of the watch.
