I lot of people do think they're cool, including Tools who did a review of the most recent addition to the line.

I think they're pointless, but I'm certainly not against them. To each his own, I say.

Certainly, an exhibition back isn't in anyone's face, like, say, a PVD coating, which by the way, I'm okay with, too, although I wouldn't do it to one of my Rolex watches.

if I'd wanted a crystal back watch I'd buy one that comes that way. I don't like mods or alterations outside of bracelet or band switches. JMHO.

it would look nice & unique for sure, though i wouldn't try it myself.
IMO going for clearbacks seems to project uniqueness, but Rolex watches maintain their uniqueness through its original state alone!

I personally wouldn't modify any high-end watch I own. It looks good though..

IMHO changing to sapphire crystal defeats the purpose of water proof by rolex and the scripts on the submariner (300M=1000ft) will be worthless.

I wouldn't put it on my watch but I think it looks pretty cool if you're into display backs. I'd say go for it if you like it...you can always switch it back!

no harm...adds a little twist... and makes your watch unique for you. Seems like a good idea

Exactly. Its not like painting a moustache on the Mona Lisa, and can be undone in 10 minutes. And mine pressure tested just fine afterwards with the 1st gen Preik case back.

As it is reversable, I like it a lot.

I like display backs when the movement is decorated. Doesn't strike me as too interesting on a Rolex, but certainly not objectionable.

If you ever get a chance to look at the movement of a Lange, you will want one. I went through a brief phase where a display back was a required feature of any watch purchase. Then one day I realized that I never looked at them & ended up selling my display back watches (JLC Reverso Grande Date & AP 15300).
