Icon14 Accuracy....1st data point

So I have had my 116610 for about a 1.5 days now. The AD told me this watch would keep time from -1 to + 1 sec per day.

I set the time yesterday at 7:00 MST using this. Today at 7:00 am MST the time piece was exactly on.

Nice!

I hope they don't guarantee that of every ROLEX they sell. But then again, probably only 10% of their customers will actually time them.

I know the specs are not quite so tight....just relaying what the AD told me. The salesman was actually their jewler...maybe he is blowing smoke up my butt...but based on condition of his hands, I think this guy knows his stuff...just sayin...

Thanks Scotty!

My new Explorer II is +1 over the course of it's first MONTH of duty. It has the 3186 with the parachrome hairspring. I cannot believe how accurate this thing is. It seems to drift between +1 and -1 from day to day and I do not do anything to self-regulate it.

My GMTIIC has been at -1 per 24 hours for the past year. Talk about consistency.

My new Explorer I 214270 is not so luck, it was -3.2 per 24 hours since I bought it from the AD 2 weeks ago. Brought it to RSC and was told that it is normal for a new watch and refuse to regulate for me. Instead, they ask me to wait for another month and it will improve on the + side.

Hopefully they are right !

I also read that the Parachrome Hairpspring has the habit of running slow, is that true ?

Thanks. !

Strange, my Sub acts the same way. It seems to either drift around the same second or two, or Atomic Time does. One finds it a bit spooky that a collection of springs and gears can be made to perform within a range of less than .001%.

COSC is -4/+6 but Rolex's "Superlative Chronometer" is there guarantee to be within -1/+5 correct?
