TBH this is embarrassing...and Im a fan of capitalism and maximizing profit but theres a degree of greed and piggishness from a basic steal submariner being at those levels. You're an IDIOT if you purchase one of these for a price like that, and I'll rarely ever say that.

It’s idiotic. People have too much money and not enough time or brains.
I don’t see a problem with it. If you have the cash and can pay asking price, good for you. Remember, someone paid $31m for a fugly watch some months ago. Everything else pales in comparison.

Social media has given birth to a new type of wealth, and it is these "influencers" who are no doubt the ones who are paying these absurd prices. However, idiots they are not, as I'm sure with their millions of subscribers/followers, they are making enough revenue to not care. If anything, having the latest and greatest piece, is likely to get them even more views/likes/subscribers/followers which I'm sure, they care more about. |

Outrageous! Double retail almost seems like a bargain now.

I picked up a watch yesterday and the Rolex Boutique has not seen the watches in person yet. They told me the Candy colored dials are coming on Wednesday. No word on the rest. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Daytona is still double retail and likely to stay there or increase, i think. Daytona has been out for more than 4 years. It has ebbed and flowed and thought it was going to crash during covid-19. it dropped a few % but now is back to above pre-covid-19. $20k for new Sub will come down most likely depending on demand and supply |

These prices are crazy. Makes me reflect on my collection and appreciate what I was able to purchase at retail. I’m just going to have to work on my patience because I’m not paying these crazy prices.

As far as I'm concerned any current reference selling for more than MSRP is not for sale.
I don't care what others pay for their watches. I only care about the price I pay for mine and I would rip my left arm from its socket before I would pay that price.

This! Totally agree, even though it is increasingly hard in this climate to not get caught up in FOMO. |

I mean the watch just came out. If you are a little patient you will get one. Why pay 20k on a sub when you can get a much better watch. I get 20k isn’t that much to everyone, but you would think if someone had money to burn like that they could look at PM, even the 42 mm YM.

It doesn't shock me at all.. They'll come down..All I can say is I'm glad I have a good relationship with my AD, he's helped me get every new piece I've wanted since my 114060, last being the Blnr. I hustled, worked hard and also added a couple used, a 5 dgt, Sub and Gmt. Ok not patting my back too much but I feel it's paid off. Now I'm just sitting back enjoying what I have and watching the show. Not looking to sell anything. No radar out for anything specific to buy but I never know when something may fall my way. Over msrp for new was never in my vocabulary.

What is going on with this world? I spend way more money on cars and watches than most people I know, but the great thing about the internet is how sane and logical (and potentially poor, lol) I feel about my decisions after reading about what others are buying. Happy to sit on the sidelines and observe the fray from afar. |

Might as well ask $30K while they're at it.

People will pay what they're willing to. Just look at how much the 116500 (both white and black dials) as well as the discontinued Hulk has surged in prices.

Is there really a new sub on the forum for 20k ?
Lol Can't blame him. He's probably thinking if someone is dumb enough to pay 2x why not 3x? I paid $23K (via trade of unworn pieces) for a white Daytona but if a previous model was available for MSRP plus $1-2K as the 116610LN is, I sure as hell wouldn't own the newer one. If things continue at this rate I'll swap my steel Daytona for a solid gold submariner within a year.
