If you're only going to wear a watch one day a week then manual is much easier. Next up would be any auto no date without a screw down crown with the last being any auto with a screw down crown.

I don't think it matters, really.

I assumed it didn't matter but was not sure. For example, are manual watch movements somehow better suited to wearing only on occasion ?
I've never had a watch winder but lots of people use them so I wasn't sure if that meant an automatic self winding watch was designed/intended for everyday wear. |

The Seamaster and APRO have screw down crowns with a date so I have to unscrew them to wind and set the date/time. I also have to worry about setting the date in the danger zone which requires me to run the hour hand all the way around at least once so I know if the watch died in the am or pm. The Tank is a pull out crown with no date so setting the time is easy but it's impossible to grip if I need to wind it. With the Speedmasters, I wind them and then pull out the crown to set the time. It's much easier and faster if one of my Speedmasters die and needs to be wound and set. If you don't care about actually setting the time/date on your watch then it doesn't really matter. |

Photos of the Tank, please! I recently added this one. The crown actually isn't too difficult to grasp: |

wearing a watch only one day of each week ?
If you have a lot of watches, then automatics are sort of a moot point. Also, if you have a lot of watches, then the date function becomes a PITA too. With that said, almost all my favorite watches are automatics and many of those have a date function. One big exception is the Speedmaster. Bottom line: I’d buy the watch you really want and not worry if it’s manual or automatic.

It seems to me that a lot of people on this site have several watches that fall in to this category.

Which Omega models (or model categories) are manual wind and which are automatic (self wind)? Thanks in advance for any helpful replies.

I would suggest a base model Panerai if you are into the style. I have an older PAM 000. Manual wind, no date or seconds hand. Very quick and easy to set the time and wind it for the day. It actually lasts about 56 hours on a full wind.
