Planet Ocean 43.5 vs Seamaster 300 42

The 43.5 is a monster!!! I think the 42 would be a little more comfortable. What seems to be the preference. Do you get use to the heavy 43.5 over time?

The Planet Ocean has one two big advantages, double the water resistance (if you need it?) and a bezel that’s much easier to turn, it’s awkward on the Diver 300 due to the scalloped bezel design. The Diver 300 has the advantage of being much slimmer although they are both comfortable to wear. The Diver 300 is the more versatile and probably more of an all occasion watch and is considerably cheaper.....ultimately you can’t go wrong with either.

I have only had my Planet Ocean 600 43.5 mm watch for a short time and find it to be a completely different watch than the 3 Seamaster 300's I own. I mean that in a good way as it allows for more than one type of watch for my collection. The watch is large but wears very well on the bracelet. As time goes on and I get more wrist time we will see.

I was considering the 300 ended up buying the PO 43.5 - Been wearing it for a couple days. Getting use to it. I have had Rolex Sub prior to owning this. Its not a Rolex, but I didn't have to shell out another 10k plus to own it. I think the quality of this watch is comparable in my opinion. Its growing on me fast! Thanks

I took the dive and bought a Black on Black 43.5 Its growing on me - the quality is outstanding. It appears to run very smooth.

My preference would be the SMP300 over the 43.5PO. The PO is just too large and thick for my wrist.

No comfort issues wearing my 43.5PO but I also daily a DSSD so not sure if my tolerance is higher to bigger watches. Its the biggest I'd go though since they still look classy

The PO would be my choice , great discounts to be had ,got mine on a omega leather/rubber deployment at present making it a little more light and understated

I would have made the same choice you did. I would prefer to have Caliber 8900

Husband purchased a Seamaster 300 just a few months back. Returned it the next day for a PO 43.5 blue dial in bracelet. Wears a smurf so the weight doesn’t bother him.

He said to him the bezel on the Seamaster was too difficult to use and the watch felt cheap. Says the PO is as good but mostly better than his Rolexes with uncanny accuracy.

Interesting. I have a Sub and Daytona and have owned many other Rolex models, and there’s nothing about the Seamaster that is “cheap” IMO. Different strokes for different folks I suppose.

It really just comes down to which design you like better. The steel PO was a bit too heavy for me, so I got the titanium version and loved that one for a bit. I now have the 300m and it’s a toss up for me. I preferred the PO titanium’s weight and hands, but like the 300m’s dial a bit more. Mm looking at these pics I think I liked the PO a bit more, but I’m not a fan of the latest iteration.
