A lot depends on your shirt cuff size. Mine will go under some of my double cuffs but not others. Here's my 689, which is taller than my 737, under a shirt cuff.

I have only collected Rolex until one day recently I traded and received a PAM 111. My only regret is why I never got one sooner. That said, when I had to choose the other day between a new 233 with a marginal discount of 4% and a new DJ41 rhodium diamond dial on a jubilee for 15% off, I went with Rolex. But for sure if the right PAM comes up for the right price I would be all over it.

How many Rolex collectors own a Panerai?
I have a pam005.. still wear mine in rotation.
Bought it not because of group cult calling but because of the design that makes it a must have on a collection in my opinion. Also rolex and Panerai has a historically rich background. |

Yes, own and love both.
I bought one because I loved the design and feel, not because of fads. Maybe that's why I still wear mine six years after buying it. |

I originally bought a 40mm PAM 48 in the early 2000s as my first non-beater watch. Since then I've flipped a large number of 44mm PAMs, but still wear my original one in rotation with my Pepsi GMT several times a week.
The 40mm ones may not be popular on some forums, but in real life its nice to have a cool watch that fits perfectly. I agree with the notion that PAM is the ultimate strap watch, while Rolex is my favorite bracelet watch. |

I also had a 40mm Pam, a chrono (PAM 74) with the zenith movement. Really great watch, but I sold it to fund another watch. Wish I still had it.
I'd love a 177 or possibly 111, but every time I try one on, my teenage daughter tells me it looks outrageously big on me (5'5" with 6.5" wrists). I generally listen to her fashion advice, so haven't bit the bullet yet. She also tells me I shouldn't wear cargo pants... damn kids. |

I think if you are tall, you should be able to get away with it.

That sounds right.
I own more Panerai than Rolex. I always find it funny when people say they got out of Panerai because of the big watch trend fading. Has it? Brands like Rolex continue to release more big pieces. Also, for me a watch is style not fashion, so I don't lend "trends" dictate what I like |

I think Panerai are one of the few brands that have a right to be large - as you say, it's part of the DNA of the brand. The affectation would be if they made them small. Distinguish this from brands that are just making large watches to be fashionable.

To be honest, I bought a 111 a couple years ago and it has nearly replaced my sub. I am not normally attracted to large watches, but this just seems perfect; now my sub feels too small

PAMs hold no interest for me. I have a bunch of Rolexes and a number of other brands but would not own a Panerai. While I like big watches, PAMs seem to wear too big for me. I'm also not crazy about the faces.

I added my very first Panerai just a month or so ago. I was captivated by the beauty of the sunburst sandwich dial. I've worn it the past week for holidays in Italy.... I LOVE this piece and could care less if folks think 47mm is too big. Panerai are meant to be bold.
I also like the simplicity of the dial and that they are so easy to read. Sent from my SM-G935W8 using Tapatalk |

Yep, and I wear it once every couple weeks, usually on a Saturday where me and my wife are going out and she wants to easily be able to see the time on my wrist. It's a 61D (which glows like nothing I've ever seen, ever), and it's fine, but I'd be ok if someone stopped me on the street and offered me a fair deal in cash for it. I wear Rolex most of the time.

359, 689 and 737. When I'm in Singapore and not travelling on a job, my watches get worn on a weekly rotation. My Sub LVc and PAM 359 are the naughty ones and have a habit of sneaking an extra week or two on the wrist.
I really couldn't care less what anyone thinks about the 'big watch' thing. They're awesome pieces with incredible wrist presence and I can't think of a better place to start than a 233. If you're thinking of returning to the brand, JFDI. You'll wonder why you've been away so long

How many Rolex collectors own a Panerai?
I've been collecting Rolex for 10 years and have been bitten by the Panerai bug. I have 6 Rolex's in my collection, 3 Tudors, an Omega and 2 Pams. At present my two Pams (a 111 and a 372) get about 40% of my wrist time. They just have a unique and appealing aesthetic - rugged and stylish at the same time. But sometimes the size can become tiring. I know then it's time to wear my 36mm Datejust !

Panerai are taking over my collection, down to just two Rolex... may get rid of the BLNR soon, I like big watches... and "I buy what I like"...I only have one person to please, and that's ME...
so what other people think doesn't worry me, let 'em buy whatever they like...good luck to them... live and let live.... cheers
