Thoughts on the SBGY003

Who has one, what do you think? Collect ability, value retention, straight up beauty?

I picked one up on impulse but have too many watches and I’m 50/50 on whether I should keep or sell.

This model is a hard one for me.... I really appreciate the tech, but the case doesn’t feel special to me, the hands are rather generic and the “cocktail time” dial is quite nice but not unique.

I think that this is a beautiful and elegant watch. I would keep it and give it some wrist time.

Purely from a collectability standpoint and since you have a large collection: Keep and make this your one Spring Drive. Snowflakes and Four Seasons are beautiful, but can be picked up later when you want to re-grow your collection.

I liked the watch in person. Thought it's a nice deviation vs their usual PR on the dial. But I didn't like how much the dial resembles the Seiko Presage cocktail time......I'm hoping down the line they'll extend the elegance line with different dials!

Its beautiful.

The exhibition caseback should be boring to look at but its not.

To me, thats a special movement in a special watch.

I heard manual wind SD for SS will remain scarce in the future.

Less attractive than the Credor GCLP handwound spring drives (though they use an older movement).

Love mine.

Well they are a little different because this is the first time Seiko put hand wind SD with power reserve in the back for GS SS. Previously only PM models gets these kind of movement (with more elaborate decorations).

Some don’t like the power reserve on the dial.

True, PR placement is dialside. I see your point.

If you have too many as you say, why not liquidate a couple or few that don't get much wrist time? Then you can roll this fresh acquisition into the mix.

Handled it a few times. Doesnt really sing to me. The movement is nice but I feel the dial lacks the usual GS "pop"

I have decided not to keep it...for the sole reason that I have a few other really nice dress watches (Patek, AP and Breguet) and this wouldn't get as much wrist time as it deserves.

The fact that I was even thinking of keeping it with watches 5-10x its value shows how good this watch is. I will miss having it.
