Incoming: After all of these watches, I'm back to Panerai - PAM372

I've gone through many-a-Rolex, and found myself wishing for what I once had. My first watch was a PAM312 which I sold for a PAM372 back in 2012.

To skip all the details, I proceeded to go through a PAM425, TT DJ, a 116520 black Daytona, a 116610LV Submariner Hulk, a 116528 MOP full gold Daytona, Audemars Piguet 44mm Ceramic ROO 26405ce (maintenance nightmare!!!), and a 114300 white OP.

After all the dust has settled, I am back here (self admittedly, I know) for the time being with another PAM372, dated 2013 for quite the discount. I forgot how much I love wearing these watches and am thrilled that I am back in the Pamily. I'm not a small/thin guy, and have no problem pulling off a 47mm watch.

Looking forward to ordering some straps again -- the last time I had a 372 I had about 7-8 straps for it...anybody have suggestions? The subforum here with strap links seems wildly outdated. TedSu and Gunny were my previous go-to, but would love to try something new.

Hope you all welcome me back with open arms

I’ve been eyeballing the 372 lately, beauty watch, congratulations.

Try dangerous9 for straps

Congrats! I let my 372 go a little while back and I've been missing it ever since. I do still have a 911 to keep me company though. As for straps- I recommend Toshi and Greg Stevens. I like how both of these guys use 100% leather all throughout and dont use any filler.

Welcome back. I'm back as well. My first and only Pam was back in 2007 when wifey got me one on our honeymoon. Got the itch with the submersible and was able to get a new 682 for used price. I really want a carbotech next but used whenever those 42mm comes out.

Welcome back! The 372 is such a beauty.

There’s just something about Panerai, and when you’re a fan, you’re a fan. Simple and as it should be.

As for straps, several good options mentioned above, to which I’ll add Micah and Simona.

Congratulations. I really like the 372 but I prefer a second hand so I went 422. I have good luck looking on ebay for straps if you can sort through the large number. I also check Paneresti on occasion.

Thanks y'all for the suggestions on straps. I appreciate the input and some names I've heard before and some new names as well so looking forward to check out the offerings. I think I want an XL strap. The OEM one is really just too short. The 2nd strap holder (what is that even called...I'm blanking on terminology right now), is barely touching the strap. Maybe I'm just too fat.

I love having this back on my wrist! Feels right at home :)

The reality is nothing looks or feels like a Panerai.

If I remember correctly the strap holders are called keepers!

Just curious since I have several 44mm ROO’s as well, what maintenance issues did you have?

First time: date wheel was getting stuck when switching over at midnight.
Second time: hours after getting my watch back, it stopped. Manual Winding was ok but rotor wasn't moving. Right back in for service the next day. I'm guessing someone screwed up putting it back together.
Third time: top Chrono pusher would do nothing when pressed down. It didn't fall off, but it didn't "click" when pushed.

This happened over the course of 6 months. Loved the watch but couldn't deal with the fact it was always broken and a month away each time.

Congratulations looks awesome, sounds like what I went through. I rifled through many brands and had the same issue with my roos. Its something about that movement had to send one in twice and another the same. Stop working and wouldn't hold power. Service was top notch but it gets old. Something about Panerai I haven't felt before. Love the strap changing and how one watch could look completely different in a matter of seconds.

I did try hard to like my ROO but couldn't get pay the failure of the watch. Oh well....

I've already got my eyes on ordering straps and like you said a quick strap change completely changes the look.

372 is a true classic. Had 2 and sold them. Getting bored w Rolex and my Panerai collection is up to 6. Thinking of a 372 again. OEM black Rugby with ecru stitching is a nice change. Peter Watch Accessories has made a number of great straps. Dirk is one of the best for old school. Micha does a nice strap.

Thanks all.

I rediscovered Corrigia. I got a few straps from them years ago for my first 372 and recall excellent quality (with prices to match!). I checked their stuff out again and remember why I loved their work.

I'm looking forward to share what straps I end up with.
