a size in between the two 42mm and 45.5 ?

Not really. 39 mm though, and a bit thinner would be great.

Yep. I bought the 45.5 8500 and thought it was way too big. My AD was nice enough to exchange it but I wish it was just a tad bigger.

Having owned both, I noticed some differences between the two. The 45.5 has a beveled date opening and has a space between it and the 3 o'clock imdicie whereas the 42 is just a straight cut and touches the indicie. The 45.5 has more of a dome on the crystal. The 42 is almost flat compared to its bigger brother.

The bezels on the 2 are different also. The bigger one seems to absorb light where as the smaller one reflects it. So in a dim room the bezel on the 45.5 is very dark and industrial looking. The 42'a bezel remains gray and shinier compared to the 45.
