Planet Ocean - Im impressed!

Just thought I would give you my first impression of this watch.

Planet Ocean is loyal to its history - the design is in many ways similar to the classic Seamaster 300 from 1957. It could be worse...

The watch is substantial with its 42mm, and 15mm thickness and... 185 grams weight. It feels solid in every way (although its a bit to Rolex when it comes to feeling).

The movement is great. -2 sec per day is just fine by me, and the Co-Axial makes the watch even more sturdy (the guarantee is due to this three years, compared to the ordinary two years).

One of the most impressive things about this watch is that its so comfortable. Although its size and weight, it fits the arm perfectly. And the crown thats used to irritate the skin doesnt do so with the PO. Top score in the departement in other words.

The family is together - and smiling.

Thanks for looking.

Omega does a great job with design--they seem like "friendly" watches if you can say that about a watch. Regardless, I am happy you are enjoying yours. Good luck with your Planet Ocean.

very nice looking watch. Thanks for sharing. Do you know if they make a white or silver faced version?

Beautiful photos, from which two aspects of the Planet Ocean immediately appear to my eye.

First, the band seems very "human friendly" with its subtle contours and softened edges.

Secondly, the crown has just enough of a "guard" to keep a sharp edge or wire from getting underneath it and damaging it; and, at the same time the guard leaves enough of the crown exposed for user-friendliness and convenience.

The Omega folks think these things through.

For some reason Omega bracelets are especially comfortable.

I like something else about this watch, particularly, and one can see it very clearly in JJ Irani's beautiful photos.

Most watches of this type that have a date window at the three o'clock position either minimize the three o'clock hour marker or omit it all together.

However, on this watch, the 12, 9, 6 and 3 o'clock hour markers all match each other in size, thus making the dial face symmetrical.

Additionally, and I especially like this, the background color of the date in the date window matches the dial face color.

A coaxial movement certified chronometer with a very readable date (and no cyclops lens), helium escape valve, and waterproof to 600 meters; all for less than $3,000 (with discount).

Very nice all around.

That's my favorite PO - 42mm all black. I gave that watch a lot of consideration in my quest that finally netted me my Expy2. Main reason I did not get it is because I already have/had the SMP and Submariner. But if I had bought that for the $2,300 discounted price, AND flipped my SMP, I would have been very close to being able to buy a DJ too.

Congrats and nice write-up with fantastic photos.
