First Rolex plus non expert at all questions :D

What would you consider a very good first Rolex with a budget of 6K USD?.

What would you say are the main advantages of buying a watch with an official dealer vs pages like chrono24 site?

Thanks!

The Oyster Perpetual 36 and 41 are in your price range and are versatile and classic with lots of color options.

Get your first Rolex from an authorized dealer and not buy used from a used jewelry vendor.

Chrono24 has fees built into the process. Dealing with a vendor outside of Chrono24 may help you get a better deal if you’re good at negotiating.

thanks for your answers. My original idea is buying the watch just for personal use. Within the same range, which ones would you buy as investment?

I’d buy a Yachmaster for 6k. Where can you find this deal?

Well that isn’t going to be a modern model, nor in the budget you described.

Vintage DJ would yield maximum dividend in terms of classic intangible good vibes. But not opining on what I believe you meant in terms of financial gain.

You’re pretty limited in that price range. Like said above, you best bet is an oyster perpetual if you can get one from AD.

Otherwise, you’re kind of scraping the bottom of the barrel.

It seems that Rolex models that are currently appreciating most in value are those at the higher end of the model range. Of course, when tides rise it raises all boats

My OP was in that budget. Tudors would be more accessible. MSRP is $5900.

For 6k, look for a DJ, a classic. Mid 90's SS 16234 or TT 16233. Tons of these available.

Beautiful! I think Oyster perpetual is my favourite option so far.

Keep in mind that a new modern OP is still almost unavailable - at least at the ADs I have visited. I think the DJ would be more available and is more iconic in my mind.

GOOD LUCK!!!

OP 41 or an explorer. Obviously these prices are from an AD, you’re going to get kicked in the teeth with pricing from Chrono or a grey dealer. The OP at MSRP is a perfect first Rolex. The price is reasonable and it’s a great watch at the price.

Not necessarily the botom of the barrel as choosing watches as all rolex are great watches; maybe in the bottom of the barrel as a customer. Keep going back to the ADs and pursuing your watch. The more visible the more likely.

Might consider an air king as well. Retail is 6450. Just bought one for my son and think it’s one of the more unique Rolex models available. Not for everyone however might be worth a look.

What ads are doling these out? Been on the hunt for quite some time. Even with a decent purchase history it's crickets.

OP36! I’m a new owner and quite happy with it - i got the black dial. I had to go grey though since it was unavailable at all nearby ADs. I paid 7k for it brand new.

Why focus on Rolex only? Plenty of amazing offerings from other brands at this price point, why limit yourself to the crown? (unless you are in love with a specific model)

A two tone 16233 datejust unpolished goes for around that price. The quintessential Rolex.

Which brands would you recommend within the same budget and with the same quality Rolex has? Happy to hear another options.
